"That was amazing." A voice called out. Maya turned around to be faced with her former best friend."Riley?" Maya questioned. She didn't understand why the brunette was there, but something about her being there made her feel comfortable.
"I knew you were gonna be this pop star." Riley chuckled. "I'm so happy for you. "
"W-what are you doing here? You heard about my debut party?"
"I couldn't miss it. I remember when we were in high school, you always told me about your dream." Riley said.
"Oh yeah." Maya giggled.
Maya didn't understand why her brain was making her act nice to Riley. Maybe it was because she was a familiar face...or maybe the blonde actually missed her best friend.
Maya enjoyed her night with Aisha and Riley by her side. Unfortunately, the party had to come to an end.
Maya found herself walking down the streets of New York. Everything felt...weird. She arrived at her two-bedroom apartment and searched through her purse for the keys.
With the turn of a lock, her door opened and Lucas stood with a frantic look. "I'm so sorry."
Maya didn't respond. She walked into the house and placed down her stuff. "Today was so amazing."
"Maya-"
"I woke up and got pampered. The label served me anything I wanted. I had eggs benedict for breakfast and lobster for lunch." Maya started.
"Maya-"
"Then I was treated to a spa day and lucky for me, Aisha was there. I got my makeup and hair done. I put on my outfit, so excited for my debut." Maya smiled.
It soon dropped.
"And when it came, I wasn't happy." Maya frowned. "On one of my happiest nights, I wasn't."
Maya paused while taking off her jacket.
"Why wasn't I happy? Well because I looked and searched for my boyfriend. Turns out, he didn't show."
"I know-"
"My boyfriend, who promised me to be there, didn't show." Maya chuckled. "I found comfort in my ex-best friend that night."
She angrily took off her shoe while throwing it at the wall.
"Isadora couldn't be there. Zay couldn't be there. My own boyfriend couldn't be there! I get it! I get it! Lawyer, doctor, vet." Maya exclaimed.
She plopped down on the couch.
"But for some reason, all of that trumps Maya. I support everybody. I rescheduled a music session just to talk on the phone with Isadora. I canceled a meeting because my boyfriend forgot his lunch. I rearranged my entire schedule to watch one of Zay's mock trials." Maya cried while crossing her arms.
She aggressively wiped the tears from her face.
"But one night! One fucking night, one night when it was you guys turn to do the same, you fell short." She walked towards her bedroom door.
"I forgot Maya. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. Missy and I were coming up with flashcards and my mind trailed off."
"Just five minutes."
She paused while looking at Lucas. He saw a pained look in her eyes. Scared to say something else, he let the blonde have the last words.
"Five minutes of your time would have meant the world to me." She opened the door and slammed it shut.

"We have to do something." Lucas slowly spoke."Oh God, was she angry?" Isadora asked while tipping in the apartment. Lucas shrugged.
"She seemed hurt. Maya cried." Lucas said. "We're horrible friends. She needed us and we weren't there."
"I know." Zay sighed. "I feel horrible. I should've been there. She told me that it was okay, but I should've known better."
"But what can we do? We screwed shit up. Wait, where is she?" Isadora whispered.
"I don't know," Lucas said while closing the door. "When I came back from testing, she was gone. She left a note saying that she would be back."
"She's mad." Zay sighed.
"She made a good point last night. She rescheduled so many things for us and we couldn't even be there." Lucas sighed.
"I get it! We're horrible." Isadora interrupted. "But I have an idea."
"What?"
"Let's throw another party. Next week on Saturday. We'll invite everyone." Isadora smiled.
The door opened and the blonde stood in the door with shopping bags dangling from her arms.
"Maya." The group said in unison.
She cleared her throat before submerging into her room and closing the door. The group looked at each other.
"She's more than mad."
