It was situations like this Edward had wanted May to be there with him the most but she wasn't. In fact he didn't know where she had wondered off to.

May sat in the Forks hospital cafeteria sat at the end of a table all the way in the corner of the small dining area. She looked out the window thinking over what had happened today. Of course she wouldn't have let the swan die but she had to decide whether she would side with Rosalie and her anger or with Edward.

"Thinking hard there?" a voice had asked. May breathed in but quickly regretted it. The sent of this person had been so over whelming it had made her throat burn. It was If a burning rod had been shoved down her throat.Their sent was the sweetest she had ever smelt. Like a cherry candy. She tensed and she had hoped her eyes hadn't turned black instead of their usual gold. She looked over to the voice and was me with deep blue eyes, a male she noted, he looked to be about her age, physically anyways, with brown blondish hair and a pale complexion. He smiled as she looked to him she could tell he was nervous.

"Thomas Williams." he stretched out his hand for her to shake. His wrist having a patient bracelet, She swallowed the venom down and took his hand in hers. His eyes widened at the coldness of her skin but he didn't let go. They shook hands. "Maylene Cullen" She stated as she let go of his hand. "Well Maylene you're very cold I'm gonna go get you some hot chocolate, unless you like coffee?" He said as he raised an eyebrow. "Hot chocolate sounds great." she said. She could hear the his heart beat faster at the positive reaction as she looked at him but he simply smiled his cheeks a slight pink and got out of the chair he was sitting in across from her and walked to the beverages.

May couldn't eat or drink anything that wasn't blood. It tasted horrid and didn't do anything for her but for some odd reason she didn't want to disappoint the odd boy. She looked out the window once again. The boy was her blood singer just like the swan girl was to Edward. Her interacting with him was a bad idea.

May and Thomas sat at the table both laughing. "You mean to tell me doctor Cullen is your dad?" He said disbelief in his tone. "It's true he is," she giggled taking the last sip of the hot chocolate.

"How old are you Maylene?" He asked leaning forward wanting to know more of the hauntingly beautiful girl in front of him.

"Eight five in a couple of months," she smiled. Although to him it had seemed a joke she wasn't lying she'd be 85 in January. The boy laughed as he shook his head.

"I'm sixteen, Seventeen in five days." She stated. Toby grinned as if a thought popped into his head but as soon as he was going to say something May's phone had rung. She muttered a small apology to him and answered the call.

"where are you?" The concerned voice of Edward spoke. It had been an hour since any of them had seen her.

"Oh! I'm sorry I just got caught up in something i'll meet you by the car." She said but before Edward could respond she hung up. She rose from her seat.

"It seems our time is up Thomas." She stated looking to the boy with a small smile. Disappointment filled the blue eyes of the boy as he searched for something to say. "Well Maylene it seems it has, maybe I'll see you again?" hope shone in his eyes.

"yeah I might be here on my birthday." She stated as she grabbed her phone off the bale to put into her back pocket of her jeans.

"Until five days Thomas," She said as she walked away not waiting for a response.

May had managed to keep her composure not breathing in again knowing if she had around him she would have harmed the boy.

Edward waited at the corner talking to Bella he seemed angry though May knew her place she had decided on not listening in.

Edward had whipped around and met May's eyes. His hardened eyes instantly softened at the sight of her. He was worried she could tell. She looked to the Swan girl who stood looking at Edward and her. She had a creeping suspicion that the Swan was far too curious for her own good.

The walk to the car was tense as if Edward was waiting to say something to pop questions upon questions.

May was right because as soon as she had gotten into the passenger seat of the Volvo Edward had looked to her. "Where were you?" He asked with a raised eyebrow. May smiled and looked ahead out the front window of the car. "The cafeteria," She answered vaguely though she knew he would want more answers later that day she kept it short knowing he already had a lot on his plate.
