That morning when Taehyung woke up, his eyes unthinkingly went in search for Jeongguk. He was still asleep on his side turned towards Taehyung and was snoring lightly, so lightly that it could have been mistaken for a subdued humming. Taehyung couldn't stop the giggle that erupted from him and the warmth that bubbled in his chest.
Jeongguk must have felt him staring cause in a few seconds, he woke up and gave him a sleepy smile and it was in that twinkling that Taehyung understood why people say, 'there is nothing as beautiful as such a simple joy and it truly makes your heart ache'.
After brushing and seeing that Taehyung got back to his bed without hurting himself, Jeongguk went downstairs to make strawberry fudge and slushie for Taehyung as he wanted to brighten up his mood since he had been staying in bed for quite long and Taehyung had a penchant for wandering around and he absolutely loved eating strawberries.
He had read a recipe on the internet but he hadn't ever cooked anything before so he was kinda anxious about how it would turn out. Halfway through the cook, Taehyung's grandmother came up to him to ask if he needed any help but he politely said no and continued with only his own aid.
Granny stayed nonetheless, watching him with a fond smile from the living room and she found it absolutely endearing how thoughtful and affectionate he was towards her grandson.
Eventually, Jeongguk finished with the fudge mix so he kept it in the fridge to let it freeze and in the meanwhile he started with the slushie. Just as he was about to put the strawberries into the mixer, he heard footsteps approaching him. He swiveled around and saw Taehyung tottering towards him with a wee smile.
"Granny told me you are cooking something," he said, hovering over the counter beside Jeongguk to see what he was doing. "Strawberries?!" He chuckled out of giddiness, the smile on his face blossoming.
"Yeah, for you. So that you feel better," Jeongguk replies, looking at him with a warm look enfolding his face as he puts the chopped strawberries into the mixer.
"Really?!" Taehyung asks with a beaming smile.
"Mmm-hmm," Jeongguk hums, giving him an assuring smile before going to get some ice from the freezer for the slushie.
Now they both may have been too busy talking to each other cause neither of them noticed that the cap of the mixer was loose and it definately doesn't take a genius to figure out what happened next.
Jeongguk started the mixer and in a second or two, the lid took wing and flew away and all the mix inside spurted all across the kitchen, a proportion of it getting jetted on their faces and clothes. A shriek of surprise left them both and they were left sizing up the mess they caused.
