I guess it was about time I told you about the relics. In detail. The Story goes like any fable from the old world.

Initially people never believed in  special powers in general. Life was all about the people, not their surroundings. Over the years they became smarter. They took notice of their surroundings and began to recognize that there were several fundamental powers that were present in several different forms. Everywhere. They realized that history had been right. Powers did exist.

Soon people began to study these elemental forces as they called them. The more they studied them, the more obsessed they became. Soon it was obvious that it was possible to tap into the power. To utilize the power. Many tried. Most failed. Finally, it was found that only nine of these elemental forces could be tapped into.

Namely, Air, Water, Fire, Earth, Flora, Fauna, Pana (the language of people), Strength and Wisdom. It was finally one man, King Zlatan, who had the ability to  concentrate the powers into different objects. And so, the relics were born.

The inspiration for air, water, fire and Earth came from Greek mythology of the old world. The power of the winds' were concentrated into a crudely shaped lightning bolt. Which was obviously hence named "The bolt of Zeus."

The power over water was concentrated into a trident. which again was called "Poseidon's trident.".

Next came fire. Inspiration was drawn from Hecate's torches. And so, the power over fire was concentrated into a pair of Amoran steel torches.

Earth was represented by scythes. Scythes were used by the farmers of the old world to harvest crops. Now everything was done by the machines invented by Enigma's team. They were named the scythes of Ceres, after Ceres, the goddess of agriculture.

This genuinely saved our lives in the 'History of the Old World' class that was mandatory at the academy. Four less terms to remember. Every trainee was well versed in  myths of the old world. Our entire lives were based on such a 'myth'. Names and events related to them were very simple to remember .

King Zlatan then crafted a crown out of an old sage tree and weaved it together with strips of leaves and thin roots. This formed relic for flora.

Fauna gave him some trouble. How to concentrate the power of such majestic animals into an inanimate object and turn it into a vessel of power? He decided that the best way to represent the animals would be to collect a single strand of hair or fur or scale from each animal and weave them together into a band (Why he chose to do such a tedious task is the first question that pops to mind. Secondly, how did he even collect a single hair or scale from every animal? .)

Pana was simple. All it took were a couple of stones from the bed of the oldest river. And a ton of meditation. Thus, the runes of Pana came into existence. It would seem a pretty simple relic to master, except Pana was now a lost language as in The language of runes had now been forgotten.

Now we come to strength. Our star, the Sword of Zlatan makes its entrance. It's the only relic named after its creator. We already know its beautiful history which makes it deadly in war.

Moving on, we finally come to wisdom. The lost relic. The one nobody knows anything about. Obviously, I cannot enlighten you on this particular relic. For reasons, refer to above mentioned statement.

Once all the relics had been created, King Zlatan set out to find the master of the nine relics at his time. He himself on account of being the creator, could not be the master of the relics.

As you can imagine, chaos ensued. Fight's broke out which turned into bigger fights which then turned into full scale battles. The relics which were created for the betterment of the old world, was ultimately what ruined them.

Crushed with guilt, King Zlatan Summoned eight of his most fierce, loyal generals and sent them far and wide to take the relics away from each other. He hid himself in an old castle far away from civilization with the Sword of Zlatan. Only to be found by Akuno an eon later.

The location of the relics was never disclosed. Nobody knew where the generals had hidden themselves away. It was only after Akuno sent out his ravagers that he was able to find the location of two relics. Thankfully, though the ravager who found Koryo's cave, couldn't make it into the actual cave. He returned empty with no memory of where he had been.

The location of the remaining seven relics were still unknown. Just like the relic for wisdom.

It didn't feel like an uncanny coincidence to me. There definitely was wisdom in leaving the relics alone. History had proved that nothing good ever came from tampering with elemental powers and we were one hundred percent heading in the same direction.
