Everyone was head over heals for the most popular boy at school. The girls practically drooled whenever he walked down the halls. And he made every straight guy he met question their sexuality. Nobody could resist those mesmerizing blue eyes, those freckles, and that blue streak in his black hair.

Nobody could resist it...except you.

You weren't...popular per say, but everyone was cool with you. You were the leader of theatre class while Varian was president of engineering club.

While everyone else was busy falling for him, he was busy falling for...you.

He did so much to try to get your attention but nothing worked. That is, until you were partnered up for a duo project.

You walked into art class excited for what your assignment was today.

"Everyone take your seats quickly, I have some announcements," Mr. Fredric, the art teacher said as people entered the classroom.

"Firstly, since we are done with the first semester, I'm assigning you a project showcasing what you have learned. Everyone will work in groups of two," he informed the class.

Your eyes immediately shot towards your best friend Vex who gave you a thumbs up.

"Before any of you guys think to pair up with your best friends, I'm assigning your partners."

You could hear groans and "really?" from everywhere around the room. You yourself was disappointed too. Fredric ignored them and grabbed a paper with everyone's partner.

"Today, I'll give you time to plan with your partner. When I call your pair, you will sit next to them and immediately get started. Use your time wisely because this is the only time you'll get to work on your project in class."

After a few minutes of name calling, you were up.

"Y/n and Varian."

'This could work,' you thought. 'He's pretty creative and we could make art out of both of our interests.'

Varian wore a small smirk as he sat down next to you.

"Hey, so I have a few ideas for what we could do," you said, taking out your sketchbook and notebook.

"Shoot," he said enthusiastically, scooting closer to you. You turned red, nobody had ever been this close to you.

You tried focusing on telling him the plans, but he was right over your shoulder. You managed to tell him your ideas, but you stuttered a whole lot.

You guys finally settled on a project, and agreed to meet up at his house after school to get started.

"I really wanted to be your partner Vex," you said taking a bite out of the sandwich you bought for lunch. "Oh come on, any girl would kill to be in your shoes! If anything you're lucky for ending up with Varian," Vex said picking at her food.

"I don't even like him like that. But I guess you're right," you sighed.
