So, it is 1:03 am, and I really have to go to bed, but here is an update!
I hope this chapter is to your liking. It has a little less action than other chapters, but it does have an important break through in Louis and Harry's relationship (not through kissing!) through conversation.
Don't worry! Things will unravel bit by bit!
Love you all and enjoy! :)
Chapter 19:
There was a knock on my front door, and I begrudgingly stood up from my sofa to go answer the obnoxious noise. Sometimes I just wished people knew how to leave others alone.
I pulled the door open to see an apologetic Harry standing on the doorstep.
"I'm so sorry you had to watch Wesley all day," He immediately blurted out. "I was going to leave work early to come and take him off your hands, but there was a giant order to fill, and it was your day off, and I didn't want to bother you by asking for help or anything. I'm so so sorry, Louis."
I blinked slowly at him, trying to take in all of his words he just rambled. After hours and hours of watching Wesley, I guess I started to fall asleep on my sofa, and my brain still hadn't caught up to my body.
"Uh, it's okay?" I voiced out, looking over to where the small dog was sleeping against the legs to the dining table. He must've tired himself out like Niall said he would. "He wasn't so bad to watch, I suppose."
"Really?" Harry asked before smiling widely. "I think he's managed to worm his way into your heart, Louis."
"Oh, trust me, that isn't the case at all," I sighed out, stepping aside so Harry could come inside.
"So, the pie-off is in two days," He announced, and I internally groaned at that bit of information. I was really dreading having to pretend to be cordial and caring to others for a whole day. Still, I knew complaining to any of the lads wouldn't do a bit of good. They would all just tell me to endure and suck it up.
"That it is," I voiced, walking passed Harry to sit down on the sofa again. I took my phone out of my pocket, checking again for anything from Liam about the information on the drugs I sent him.
Still nothing.
"I was thinking... maybe you could come over to house tomorrow, and we can make a few practice pies. I, um, really need a second opinion," He said, shifting his weight from leg to leg as he spoke.
"Why not ask your lovely boyfriend?" I dismissed, scrolling through the information I was sent about Harry on my phone. I still couldn't figure out just what I was missing. There had to be a piece of the story that we weren't getting. What was it? What was the big secret?
"I'm not sure we're even dating anymore," Harry confessed, and I watched as he walked over to the sofa before plopping himself down. It was the first time I've seen him this way. "I mean, it's not unusual for him to disappear for a period of time without calling, but... I don't know. The last time we spoke we only ended up fighting."
I didn't know how to respond. When I brought him up it wasn't exactly an invitation to hear about Harry's problems. Especially because I really didn't give a fuck about Zander. So, I remained silent, and that seemed to be enough for Harry to continue speaking.
"He's addicted to drugs," Harry voiced, and I was genuinely surprised that he was aware of Zander's drug use. I figured it'd be something the other lad actually tried to hide from Harry. I wondered briefly if Harry knew he was dealing as well.
"How do you know that?"
"I've seen him do it. When he thought I wasn't looking." A frown overtook Harry's face, and it looked incredibly out of place from the positivity and sunshine he generally oozed. "It didn't start until after he moved away. When we were in high school, sure he had... problems, but he never turned to drugs or alcohol."
