Luna and Janus continued making their way southwards walking through the plains. Janus advised Luna not to engage any demons unless necessary in order to preserve their ammunition.

"Where are we going?" Luna asked.

"Our next stop is Oceansong," Janus said. "But we'll have to make a stop at that village over there." Janus pointed at a palisade wall in the distance. At last, after miles of walking, they could have a place to settle in for the night.

They entered through the gates as the sun was setting and saw the local villagers along with some lesser demons within the premises. Luna felt uncomfortable at the sight of the demons, especially those she caught staring at her.

She and Janus walked along the main road trying to avoid the attention of the villagers. He led her to the farmlands and asked one of the local farmers for a place to stay the night. Luna waited as the two men were locked in conversation and decided to look elsewhere.

"Lou," Janus said from behind her. "Come on, we got ourselves a place to stay."

The farmer took both of them to his barn where he kept all his supplies and livestock. They were allowed to stay on the upper floor where they could hear the sheeps bleat and the horses neigh.

"Do you think there will be demons coming in?" Luna asked anxiously.

"Doubt it," Janus said. "Get some rest, Lou. We still have a couple more days to Oceansong. And there won't be a stop for us next time." Janus laid himself on a pile of hay as a makeshift bed.

Upon seeing his example, Luna did the same. She reminisced about the days when she would wake up in her bed and get ready to work in the bakery. The times where she would tuck the little girls in to bed and kiss them on their forehead. But those days were long gone. She didn't even know if they're still alive. The times are changing and so must she. All her life Luna had never been too far from Eldham until the attack happened, neither had she thought about killing a demon that very day. She dreamed about what she would tell the girls of her adventure, if they ever meet again. The darkness of Luna's closed eyelids soon lulled her to sleep.

Janus woke her up early in the morning. The locals offered them breakfast which Janus paid for later on and resupplied their provisions. They set off before midday to cover more grounds. That same evening, Janus called his wife to make sure that everything was fine.

"I'm fine, honey," his wife said. "How's the girl holding up?"

"I'm fine," Luna said, lying on the ground as she tried to fall asleep.

"So what news from the north?" Janus asked.

"Right now, we're camping by the lake. We're making our way to Farstag. Hopefully we'll be safe there," his wife reported. "Also because of the recent attacks, the seraphim had ordered civilians to be trained in combat in order to assist them."

"What?" Luna straightened up and showed her face to the woman. "You mean they're being trained for combat against the demons?"

"Exactly my point," the woman replied.

Luna laid on her back and closed her eyes. The thought of the girls being conscripted to fight in the war made her insecure. What if they die during a campaign? Although she knew that Elara would be having a good time learning to fight so she can join the Resistance, what about the others?

"Well, thanks for the report. I love you," Janus said with a smile.

"Be safe." The woman ended the transmission.

Luna's memory recalled one particular time in her life when she was infatuated with a boy from home. They would go outside of Eldham and embark on a so-called "adventure". But one day changed it all. The day when they encountered a demon which killed her childhood love. From that day, her fear of demons grew worse. Not just because of their hideous appearance, but also for what they are capable of doing, like tearing someone to shreds. That memory latched on to her forever and it still haunted her to that day.
