Luna and Janus helped the rebels seal off the mine while the injured were being treated.
They spent the night in the inn, setting off for the stables early in the morning. Finally, they could give their legs some rest and by getting a mount instead.
Upon arriving in the stables, they saw a girl with dirty blonde hair petting a chestnut horse. The girl turned her sights towards them and petted the horse one last time as a form of goodbye before handing Janus the reins.
"Take care of her for me," she said.
"Aren't you going somewhere?" Janus asked her.
"I still have work to do." She looked passed Janus at Luna. "I see she's doing fine."
"All thanks to you," Janus said.
The girl toggled her hood and climbed up the nearest building. Only then did Luna realize that she was the hooded figure watching her yesterday.
"Lou," Janus said.
Luna snapped back to her senses and mounted the horse. They galloped through the shoreline all day, taking the usual shifts when the night came. A couple days later, Seabreeze Landing was finally in sight. Luna and Janus took a while to admire the city from afar, but that's exactly when they realized that something was wrong.
"Sounds like a battle," Luna said. If her ears didn't deceive her, she heard a racket in the city that sounded like a battle cry.
"You're right about that," Janus replied.
"What do we do?" Luna asked him. "Wait out here?"
Janus whipped the reins and they galloped towards the city, the war cry getting even louder as they approached. They dismounted at some distance and tied the horse to a tree before proceeding to the city on foot. They were proven correct - the city was in complete chaos. There were armed men killing demons of many shapes and sizes, wreaking havoc.
"Janus, what's happening?" Luna panicked.
"Stay close to me," he ordered.
With their weapons drawn, they joined the fray, killing any demon that came into their sight.
One demon leapt at Janus out of nowhere; Luna quickly aimed her revolver and landed a lucky headshot.
"Thanks," Janus said.
They went on again. Luna saw one demon about to kill someone and without taking too long to aim, she pulled the trigger. They rounded a corner and there she saw a black-haired woman wielding a sword. After performing a few cuts, she thrust her free hand forward and a burst of blue fire erupted from it.
Luna was astounded by what the woman did. Surely no human could do something like that, she's only seen angels perform such feat. She froze in awe and something landed on her, knocking her down.
Luna screamed at the sight of the demon. It opened its mouth to reveal its long tongue before a loud bang and a burst of blood erupted from its head. The demon dropped lifeless on Luna who screamed upon coming to contact with it.
"You should be more careful," Janus said, picking her up.
Luna looked around, the demons were either lying dead or have began fleeing the city.
"VICTORY!" the black-haired woman shouted, followed by a shout of triumph by the rest of the humans.
Janus walked towards the woman and talked to her, then woman turned her eyes to Luna before approaching her.
"He just told me everything," she said. "I'm Miranda. I'll be teaching you how to fight. Meet me in the docks by the evening."
