Their journey continued on for a couple more days before crossing a river that served as the final obstacle to Oceansong. They reached the harbor city on a gloomy evening and the moist air hinted that it would rain soon. Upon entering, Luna and Janus were greeted by a few demons. One thing that Luna noticed is the lack of people there. She could see some women and children minding their stalls in the market, but the city seemed to have a shortage of men.
Luna raised her head and saw a hooded figure on the rooftops who immediately hid behind some cover upon being spotted. Luna's suspicion aroused, something wasn't right about that place. She walked along the road next to Janus and reached the shipyard. There her questions were answered. The city didn't lack a population of men, they were being used as forced labourers to build a fleet. She could see some demons watching over them with whips and other weapons to ensure cooperation.
She turned her head to another direction and there she saw the cloaked figure again. She touched Janus' shoulders to get his attention.
"What is it?" he asked.
Luna didn't look away from the cloaked figure, but it disappeared again before Janus could get a look at it. "I think we're being watched."
Janus looked around and noticed that the locals were eyeing them. "No doubt about it."
"No, Janus. There was some cloaked figure watching us," Luna said.
They stopped in front of an inn when Janus handed her a small pouch of coins. "Why don't you go the market and buy some supplies? I'll get us a place to stay."
Luna took the coins and headed off towards the marketplace. The demons there made her feel uneasy. She stopped at one of the shops selling bread and after paying, she set off through the same road she took to the inn.
Upon rounding a corner, something unlike anything she's ever seen came to her field of vision. She screamed in surprise and noticed that the creature was pulling a cart. And on the cart were a couple of demons.
She walked as far away from them as the road would allow her, eyeing them as she went. The two demons watched her as well. She caught them chatting with one another while stealing glances at her, which made her even more uncomfortable. She made it passed them and sets her sights forward. But after taking a few steps, something grabbed her wrist. She flinched to see that one of the demons had grasped her. She screamed and screamed. Her nerves were twitching like crazy at the disgust of the foul being. All that shock and anguish was too much for her to handle and she fainted.
