Chapter 7

                                     10 years later.

"Mommy Wilder took my journal! " Veronica cried.

" Veronica your not two anymore. Stop whining. Cassidy said as she put her laundry away. Veronica pouted. 

" Your sisters right Veronica. " Cass said as she  poured some milk into a glass.

" It's not fair since Wilder is the youngest he gets whatever he wants. " Veronica complained.

" That's not true Veronica.  Wilder doesn't get whatever  he wants. Be grateful for what you have V. " Cass said as she kissed her daughters head. " Anyway, Cassidy can you take Veronica and Wilder to school? I have some guard assiments.  Cass asked Cassidy as she handed the girls there backpacks.

" Sure mom." Cassidy replied. " But where is Wilder?

" Right here!" Wilder said as he stuck his head out from under the coach. 

" Wilder stop scaring us like that. " Veronica said.

"And get out from under the couch."

" Wilder did you take your pills?" Cass asked as she handed him his lunchbox.  

" Yes mom." Wilder said as looked through his lunch. 

" And did you give yourself your shot?" Cass asked.

" Yes mom. "

"Ok then. I love you." Cass said giving each of her kids a kiss. 

"Love you to mom."Cassidy replied.  Cassandra watched as her kids went of to school. They grow up to fast she thought. 

Later on that day when Cassandra finished her guard assiments she heard a knock on the door. When she opened it she knew exactly who it was. 

" Hello Fitzherbert." Cassandra said.

"Cass this is serious. " Eugene pulled out of wanted poster. The man had long hair, lots of freckles, and a dimple on his left cheek. 

" And who is this?" Cass asked as she looked at the man.

"His name is Benjamin Darlon. He is one of the top wanted criminals. "

"So?" Cass questioned.  Eugene had a serious face.

"We believe he has something to do with Varain." Cass stood is shock.

" I thought we agreed to never talk about him again. " Cass said. She never wanted anything to do with Varain. She kept his last name and let the kids visit there grandpa Quiarn but that was it.

" I know Cass but don't you miss him."

"Leave Fitzherbert. " Cass said  as she felt tears come down her face.  She shut the door and began to cry.  " Stupid!" Cass yelled as she hit the door with her fist. "You ruined my life Varain. " She yelled. Then she heard another knock on the door. " Go away Fitzherbert. " Cass said as she stood up. The door slowly opened. It wasn't Eugene.  It was her children.  All three in tears. Cass was shocked. 

" Mommy when will daddy  come back? Wilder asked. Cass held him.  

" Soon Wilder. " Cassidy kneeled down and hugged her mother.  Veronica kicked the wall.

" He left us Wilder and he's not coming back. " Veronica cried. 

" V he-. Cassandra began but Veronica interrupted her. 

" No mom he doesn't love us anymore. " Veronica cried as she ran upstairs to her room. Wilder looked up at his mom.

" Is that true mommy?" Wilder asked. Cass didn't know what to say. 

" No Wilder. Veronica is just mad." But honestly Cass didn't know.  She wanted to think Varain loved her. That he was still alive. But nothing could be promised.
