Atticus raced off, his blood boiling in his ears. How dare that little urchin defy him like that! He would pay. The young teen let out a sigh as he let his thoughts roam freely. When he arrived back home to report to his father, he handed his horse over to the stable master and raced towards his father's chambers. The King was talking to a group of guards and was waving his hands in tiny gestures. He was about to back up when his father called him over.

"What's wrong my son?", he asked.

"I met that scoundrel Bryan in the woods and he had the audacity to say that the part of the woods beside the river was his father's land", Atticus said.

"That fool! That is no man's land", the King bellowed.

"That is madness!", one of the guards said. "No one has claimed that land since King Tirus was alive."

The King nodded his head to the guard.

"Quite true", he said.  "Which puzzles me more. Why send the prince out there alone?", he asked.

"He was alone and he managed-", Atticus was interrupted by a scream.

"My poor son! Look at your face. Who did this to you perfect handsome face?", the Queen asked.

Atticus backed away from his mother. He wasn't used to the wave of affection since he was younger. He sat down and let his mother tend to him while he told his story of what happened.

"The prince of Sidon would do this?", the Queen asked after he was done.

"He did and he might do it again", Atticus said with anger in his voice.

"Don't worry. The ball is tonight. I will speak with King Edward myself", the King said.

"Thank you father", he said.

"Now, go with your mother and let her pick out your evening attire for the event", the King said with a wave of his hand.

As he turned back to his guards, Atticus' mother led him away.
