"Wait!", Flora yelled. She looked at the two teens with fear in her eyes.
Bryan withdrew his sword and waved her away.
"He killed our father", he said with a glare at Atticus.
"You did what?!", Flora yelled. "You told me that he died by accident."
Atticus rushed at Bryan and hit him with his sword.
"You've messed with me for the last time", he said.
Bryan backed up and motioned behind him. A young guard walked out of nowhere.
"Thomas!", Flora said with amazement.
"Come back with us! Atticus is trouble", Thomas said.
"I love him", she said with a look full of love for Atticus.
"You do what?!", Thomas and Bryan said in unison.
Atticus placed his sword down and raced up to Flora. His hardened gaze had softened and were filled with affection. They kissed and she turned to her brother and Thomas.
"I'm so sorry Thomas. I knew you liked me, but my heart's for Atticus", she said.
Bryan watched with exasperation across his face. He looked up at the sun that was setting under a pinkish gray afternoon sky. Thomas looked over at Bryan.
"We should go", Thomas said. "You can stay or come with us. Oh and Atticus, if you ever set foot in our land, you will be slaughtered."
"I'll stay with him", Flora said. "The kingdom will live without me."
"Thank you", Atticus said with a smile. "If you see my father, tell him I will be coming back into my territory with someone from another kingdom."
"Sure", Bryan said and he motioned for Thomas to follow him.
"You sure you want to leave her?", Thomas asked.
"Positive", he said. "She's right. The kingdom can live without her."
