Prologue

Dazai had insisted that Atsushi should accompany him for a case, when the caught a glimpse of a corpse floating in the water. Well, at least they thought it was, before they pulled it out, realizing that it was an actual human being. The girl waved as though she hadn't just been hauled out of the water by two random humans, a small smile on her face.

"Heya. The name is Okada Rinami. Thank you guys for pulling me out, " The girl spoke up.

Atsushi was panicking. What was a random girl doing floating in the water? That was until it struck him. This was the girl that they were supposed to be looking for on the mission. Usually, the agency wouldn't assign these kinds of cases, but apparently, they wanted to recruit her.

"Why were you drifting around in the water?" Atsushi asked, slightly scared for Okada's sanity.

"I guess you could say I'm bored, " Okada said, staring up at the fluffy white clouds.

The girl was wearing a white blouse with trousers, along with a vest and a coat. That would be a pain to dry. The chilliness in her wet socks was unpleasant, and she knew she should have just worn a simple get up. She just had to go ahead and wet her favourite outfit. Well, technically it was her only outfit, since all the clothes in the wardrobe were the same.

"That doesn't explain why you were drifting through the river. Besides, how can life be boring for someone who is being hunted down by the Mafia?" Atsushi questioned, puzzled.

Oh, so they knew. She wasn't really surprised that the Mafia was after her. After all, she did get into a fight with one of their members... That really wasn't a bright choice, was it?

"Perhaps you're like me, " Dazai said with a charming smile upon his face.

"Would you like to commit a double suicide with me?" Dazai asked, his eyes sparkling.

"What's in it for me?" Okada asked, who was lying to the dirt ground, asked.

She wasn't just going to commit a double suicide with anyone, especially not with some random stranger she just met. Besides, she wasn't even suicidal.

"You won't have to deal with the Mafia anymore!"

"Only if you get me a job. If you do, I'll be happy to," Okada replied, a little sarcastically.

How fortunate! That was exactly why the detectives were even looking for her! However, that was only because they interpreted Okada's sarcasm wrongly. Within seconds, she was being dragged to the Armed Detective Agency. Not that she could, or, as a matter of fact, wanted to, do anything about it. Besides, this could turn out to be a enjoyable ride.
