"You! New recruit! Take me to the crime scene, "

The way the detective had said it made her look up to him. He seemed way too cool to be a detective stuck in the Agency. Then again, the Agency was a bit exciting.

"Yes sir!" Okada responded, saluting to him.

"Good, this is the kind of response I expect to get from you. After all, none of you can hardly come close to the greatest detective in the world, Ranpo Edogawa!"

"Yes sir!"

Okada had never felt such an overwhelming presence before. A man with such authority. The only person she would now to was this man and the director. She didn't know about the boss of Port Mafia... She walked in on him changing a younger girl that looked nothing like him.

Anyways, she proceeded to guide the greatest detective of all time to the crime scene. Thus, started the worst part of the mission. The amazing Ranpo didn't know how to use a train.

"Ticket machine! I order that you dispense the paper that I need to pass the gates of hell!" Ranpo ordered the machine.

Okada sweatdropped. Did the greatest detective not know how to use a ticket machine?

"Ranpo-sama, you have to insert the coin into that slot, "

"Ah, I knew that. Ranpo-sama, hmm? Yes, I like the sound of that, " he said wistfully.

After many distractions and obstacles, Okada managed to do her job and lead Ranpo to his desired location. As she stumbled disgracefully to the crime scene with bundles of snacks in her hands that Ranpo asked her to buy, Ranpo had already started talking to the chief about the case, who seemed willing to let the great detective do his work.

Okada looked around, bored. Of course, she wanted to see Ranpo's ability in motion, but the detective was still being briefed on the case. At this moment, she noticed someone teetering on and off the building, as though testing themselves how far they could go before they plummet. Okada hastily put down her bags and rushed up the stairs of the abandoned building. Slamming open the door, she was met by the person she wanted to see the least.

"Dazai-san? What the shit, I might as well just push you off for that, "

What was that? Why was her speech so aggressive? Usually, she'd just let the person fall, but something sparked up within her to save him, or whoever was on the roof. Before the day she joined, this kind of scenario would have never happened. So what was up with her heroic reaction?

"I guess you really are no longer that bored girl I met that day, " he sighed, throwing his hands up in the air and stepping down from the ledge.

As they both climbed down the stairs to meet Ranpo, Okada kept to herself. Surely she hadn't changed that much within a couple of days. Yes, no one could change that much.

"You know, you still haven't told me your power yet, " Dazai smiled down on Okada. Wait, down?

Okada silently gaped. No... There was no way. She secretly compared her height to his, severely disappointed when she realized that he was slightly taller than her. What the heck? No way was she going to voice out her concerns. But Dazai? Akabane's probably future husband, was taller than her?

"But you've read about it, and I don't want to explain it in detail, " Okada put simply. Any more and she would spill her current concern about his FREAKING HEIGHT!

"Aww, come on, Chibi-chan!" Dazai teased.

The only thing on Okada's mind was Dazai's words. Shit. He knew. Okada could practically imagine Akabane smirking at her. God, was this what it was like to be short? To be small? To feel inferior? She wanted to curl up into a ball and die. Actually, that sounded like a good idea.

"Shut up, idiot. I'll tell you if you don't call me that anymore, "

"Tiny, " Dazai coughed out.

"Okay... Anyways, my ability is Kitsune. I can transform into a fox any time I want to, as long as I put on a kitsune mask. It works on any kitsune mask, but the one I use the most is the most comfortable. Also, a different part of my power is kind of like mind control. I can manipulate what people see so that they obey me, " Okada explains.

She gingerly pulled out the mark from under her coat, showing it to Dazai.

"Why is that so?" Dazai asked, tilting his head.

"That's for me to know and for you to find out, " Okada smirked, before throwing up a V sign with her fingers and running down the stairs swiftly with the grace of a fox.

Okada leapt down the stairs, skipping steps and landing on her two feet every time. There was something about her that reminded him of a child. A small child with such innocence that needed to be protected. Who could have suspected that this girl was the same one as that bored individual he had met that day in the lake? It somewhat reminded him of himself.

"Slowpoke!" Okada teased, sticking out her tongue, blowing a raspberry at Dazai.

"You really are quick one your feet, Chibi-chan~"

After all their stupid bickering, the two managed to get down in time to watch Ranpo Edogawa, the greatest, most awesome, extraordinary detective use his skill. He put on his glasses, and Okada felt like she was in a superhero movie. Wind started billowing around him, blowing his hair out of the way.

"Super Deduction!"

It was as though Okada had been punched in the gut. That was how she felt when she saw him activate his ability. It was as though God himself lent his power to the man in front of her. His presence was overwhelming. She had to hold down her hair just so that he wouldn't snatch her wig. (She doesn't actually have a wig.)

After a few seconds, the dust settled and everything was back to normal. Turns out Okada was the only one who felt that.

"I see, " Ranpo said in all his epicness.

He pushed up the glasses from the bridge of his nose, his glasses glinting in the sunlight. That day, Okada witnessed Ranpo's incredible strength and power. And of course, she had to guide him on the train home.

"This way, Ranpo-sama, " Okada said, bowing to him with all the shopping bags in her arms.

"Why don't I get a nice honorific?" Dazai groaned in the background.
