Jessie and James were completely silent again. Bewear and Stufful had noticed this, too. Bewear had offered them some fruit, but neither had accepted. Stufful tried tapping them to cheer them up, but that made them irritated. Jessie stood inside the entrance staring at James while he knelt in the grass outside. Wobbuffet didn't even want to come out of it's pokeball at all, as much as it used to love doing it. As to where Marx was, he was nowhere to be seen.

It stayed like that for a while. Silence from both humans. The only noises that rustled through the forest were Bewear's occasional growl of curiosity, a couple of Bird Pokemon tweeting and the wind blowing through, stirring the fallen leaves. The tenseness was thick, fallen on the two like a rug. James looked back at Jessie; her face was unreadable, but James could tell she was still angry from their botched plan to capture Pikachu. After some time, he spoke spoke up.

"Look, I get you're mad at me. I'm sorry, I really don't know what came over me."

Jessie didn't respond, instead she faced away from James, still refusing to speak. She must have been really mad. But the previous Jessie would have snapped at James for being incompetent, but now, she just couldn't get angry enough to do that.

"I was a coward. I let those twerps get inside my head. I just... couldn't let them keep talking about Meowth. I'm sorry. I just can't go back to being a part of Team Rocket. I guess... I'm still looking for Meta Knight's approval. B-but he's... H-he's gone..." His voice lowered to a heartbroken whisper.

Jessie sighed. "You don't need his approval anymore. But I understand the part about the twerps getting in your head. They were being idiots, not even grateful for what we were doing, such as helping Meta Knight and fighting with them and stuff."

".....I joined Team Rocket to run away from my life. I ran away from my parents, my problems, my Growlithe... I've done nothing but run. I ran away from Meta Knight instead of trying to help when he was possessed. I ran away from the ending fight with Tsurara. I'm such a coward... now I can't face anything anymore. I can't even think of them without breaking down. Why am I like this?! I just want to go back to normal! I want to see Meta, I want our Meowth back...! I can't live a life without him! I don't want to be here if Meowth isn't!" He choked up, a lump in his throat stopping him from talking.

Jessie looked at James and saw his shoulders were shaking, with quiet sobs that were desperately being stifled. Slowly, her anger dissipated as she couldn't help but feel sorry for him. James grabbed his indigo coloured hair and yanked it hopelessly.

"James," Jessie began softly, in a tone that was completely unfamiliar to James as she never used it. She walked slowly and put a hand on his shuddering shoulder. "You're not a coward at all. You were willing to fight Tsurara and Dark Matter willingly and you faced Dark Matter alone when it possessed you. You were brave, probably braver than I've ever seen you before. You weren't a coward, and you'll probably never be one starting from... maybe around two weeks ago."

"I let the Pikachu go. We had him in our hands! We were so close to achieving the dream we took so long to do! We were just about to win with Marx on our side, but... I was weak." James muttered. He stood up and sat on one of the many tree stumps that Meta Knight had caused and buried his face in his hands.

Stufful trundled over to him, with a look of innocence and confusion. "Stuff Stufful? Stuff stuff?" Chances were, it was asking about where Meta Knight and Meowth went. Bewear picked up her Stufful and the two went back into the cave, feasting on the piles of fruits.

"Well, we need to move on soon, because Marx is out there..." Jessie said, standing up and crossing her arms. "For now. Marx is obviously going to cause more trouble than actually help us. Just like we did around two weeks ago, we need to help him get back home before he decides to kill us."
