i thought the drink was playing with my sanity
but before my eyes the pale green light
flashed once more above the surface of the clear basin
a tribute brought to the dark lord.

"regulus!"

a muffled echo of your voice resounded
and around you the water was stained with the hue of lava.

your eyes were fading
cyan turning to the shade of icicles,
locks the colour of aureolas surrounding you
a blood stained spider web
that finally caught a butterfly,
your pearly skin turned a shade
resembling fresh snow,
bubbles of air started exiting your mouth
as you prayed in forgotten tongues
that only the water itself could comprehend.

you sunk and you sunk and you sunk
and i cried and i cried and i cried
but to no avail.
i was slipping into the void
like a bird falling from the sky,
broken wings only deadweight.

like a last impulse, a last wish, a last breath
your hand tried to reach mine
and i caught you.

but you slipped between my fingers.

i've broken my vow, my oath,
so instead of fighting the creatures back
i drowned with you in a sea
of bony hands and red eyes
of dead hopes and sin.

yet in the end we were together, hecate.
