"Papa, what was it like? How did you and dad get together? Where was your first kiss?" The ten year old girl asked, making Noah and Nick freeze up from the random questions.
The small family was sat at a picnic table, basking in the setting sun and cool temperature. Amber, the couples daughter was always a curious girl from a young age and it was only a matter of time until she asked about her parents.
"Well we knew each other since middle school, but we didn't have our first date until my 16th birthday." Nick smiles, resting his arm on the table and hand on his cheek. Remembering how happy he was on that date and still twenty four years later still as happy.
"What was it like? Was dad as handsome as he is now?" Amber questions, wanting to know what it was like to go on a date in 1996.
"Of course I was handsome, you're talking like I'm not even here." Noah complains, crossing his arms over his chest and pouting like when Amber doesn't get ice cream.
"Dad was very handsome, maybe a little better looking back then then now." Nick whispers but still loud enough for Noah to hear. Nick always thought Noah looked good, but he couldn't know that so he teased him.
"Rude." Noah scoffs, making the other two giggle and high five secretly. Nick leans over and plants a kiss on Noah's cheek, whispering in his ear, this time so only the brunette can hear.
"Don't worry baby, you still look as good since my sweet sixteen."
The pair laugh and turn back to Amber once she's knocked on the table.
"I want a story and answers. Can you tell me what you guys did?" Amber persists.
"Wanna tell the story?" Nick asks the brunette, making him shake his head and speak up.
"Let's do it together." Noah smiles, slipping his hand into Nick's and looking at Amber.
——
The horn honks outside of Nick's bedroom window, making him jump up from his bed and look out of his window to see Noah's car, a 1957 Corvette. Nick's smile widens and he runs downstairs, slipping his shoes on and the little bit of cash he has into his pocket before walking out of his house, locking the door behind him.
"Hi." Nick breaths, making the brunette smirk and lean in for a quick kiss. Opening the door for Nick and then walking to the drivers side, pulling out of the driveway and down the street.
"Are you excited birthday boy?" Noah questions, resting his hand over top of Nick's and the other on the steering wheel.
"Yes, are you gonna tell me where we're going?"
"We're going to a drive in movie." Noah says, clutching Nick's hand a little tighter, not wanting Nick to hate his idea.
"That's so cool! I've always wanted to go to one!" Nick squeals, squeezing Noah's hand back just as tight.
"Good!" Noah smiles, pulling into the drive in and pulling up to the window, Nick getting snacks and drinks out from the backseat for the movie.
Pulling up to their spot, Noah parks the car and turns it off. Nick holds out his hand for Noah to take and opens the chips. The brunette takes the out stretched hand and looks over at Nick, his cheeks hurting from smiling so much.
"Happy birthday Nicky."
"Thank you." Nick smiles, leaning in slowly so their lips are touching. The start of the movie playing in the background as their lips meld together, Nick smiling into the kiss.
——
"Ew, I'm good with those details!" Amber exclaims, throwing her hands up in the air.
"Sorry." Nick laughs, blushing a bright red from remembering the night of fun the couple had after the movie.
"I love you." Noah whispers, kissing Nick's blushing cheek.
"I love you Noah." Nick smiles, linking his hand into the brunettes under the table.
"I love you too!" Amber yells, standing up and running around the table to hug her parents from behind, her small arms wrapping around their shoulders.
