Things Nigerian Mums Do

When your mum borrows,sorry takes away your money FOREVER

When relatives come to your house and they decide to give you some amount of cash,this is what a Nigerian mother would do.

So, back to me,its my birthday and friends and family come over and I'm given some thousands of naira.

Few days later she walks into my room dressed to go out

Mum:Phayth,where is that money that I saw you with and how much was it
Me:Five thousand.
Mum:Ehen,there is something I want to buy so just borrow me,I'll pay you back
I get the money and hand it to her
Me:Mum when are you paying me back
Mum:I'm already late to where I'm going,see you later.
Me:But mum you haven't answ.....
Mum:I'm running late,call me if you need anything Ok?
She leaves without telling me when she'll pay me back

2days later
Me: Mum what about the money you owe me
Mum: Me? owe you?
Me:Yes the day before yesterday you told me you wanted to buy something
Mum:Ok,sorry I forgot. How much was it again?
Me:Five k.
Mum:Don't worry remind me tomorrow I don't have any cash.
I believe her and ask her the next day

The Next Day
Me:Mum sorry to disturb you but you told me to remind you of the money you owe me.
Mum: Ok. Help me to collect my change from Mummy Bisi.
I get to mummy Bisi's shop and head home with the change to give to my mum.
Me:Is this my repayment? Even though its not complete but we can start small small.
She snatches the money
Mum: Repayment ko small small ni. My friend this is not any repayment mtceww
A month passes and I've not been paid back but been told to something or anything to just keep me from been paid back. So today I make up my mind to ask for my money.
Me:Mum its been a month and you haven't paid me back.
Mum: Phayth,my daughter if you knew how stressful it was for me to carry you in my womb for NINE months and then breastfed you for two years,if I'm to calculate all I've spent on your head how much is five thousand compared to all I've spent sending you to school for you to become well educated so what are you telling me.
So that is how my money just poofed away. I already had plan.

There are a lot of people that have suffered the same fate. Its just what nigerian mums are best at doing,l believe every Nigerian mum does this.
