Liana's POV
Drumming my fingers on the side of my airplane chair, I leaned back and groaned. It had been a year since Ash had left me, something that broke my heart. But despite the people throwing themselves at me, begging for love, I persevered, hoping Ash would still love me even in a long-distance relationship. Maybe I was wrong. Sure, he called me every day, but they were hurried, as though he had better things to do than talk to his girlfriend on the other side of the continent. Tears blurred my vision, but I hurriedly rubbed them away. A dark crimson hoodie was tucked over my midnight curls, my grass-green eyes hidden behind the lenses of a pair of sunglasses. My whole body needed to be obscured to prevent the paparazzi from following their Queen. I had decided to bring my affectionate Eevee on the plane ride because many people had them and it wasn't too suspicious. I petted her neck fur and she responded with a gentle mew, tucking her small body into my arm. I blew out a breath and stared outside. Immediately, I was enchanted by Alola's beauty. There were azure waves that lapped against the shore, which was lined with mounds of spun-gold sand. Palm trees and beach umbrellas dotted the coast, as well as people in swimsuits. I guessed many tourists wanted to hit the waves right after they got off the plane because the airport was next to the beach. I waited for the pilot's voice to crackle in the speakers. "We have arrived at Melemele Island, Alola. Please do not unbuckle your seatbelts until we have stopped moving. Thank you for traveling with Dragonair Airlines. We hope to see you again soon." recited the pilot.
The plane descended smoothly and I clutched my armrest as it bumped along the road. I got up and started to wheel my teal suitcase towards the door. "Thank you for flying with us." smiled a beautiful flight attendant at the exit. I responded with a charming one of my own and trekked off. I was sure that nobody knew what Performing even was, so I took off my sweater and welcomed the warm breeze in a pale pink chiffon dress with small cream flower patterns all over it. I scooted closer into my wedge sandals and walked onto the beach. I knew immediately that most of my Eeveelutions would love it here. Leafeon for the lush foliage, Vaporeon for the glimmering water, Espeon for the beautiful sunrise, Umbreon for the star-studded night sky, Flareon for the exotic heat, Sylveon for its beauty, Eevee for the many people and Pokemon, and Jolteon for the electrifying winds. Glaceon preferred icier locations, but I guess she could make it Hail and freeze the ocean to ice skate. Or I could drop her off at Mount Lanakila. Smiling at the thought, I strolled closer to the middle of the coastline and gasped at what I saw near an umbrella.
A beautiful, tanned girl neared Ash, he tried to push her off, but she smiled wickedly and got closer. "We belong together, Ashy," she cooed. My blood boiled. 'Ashy' was what Serena had called my boyfriend. and I knew anyone else who did was probably no good. I marched over and waited to see what would happen. If he was embarrassed, that meant he loved her more than me. To my relief, he literally kicked the Alolan girl off of him and pecked me on the cheek. "Aw, so cute!" squealed a pretty girl with platinum locks. "Wait, you're the Kalos Queen," gasped a bluenette with a fishing net hairband and a tankini. "So cool!" they exclaimed giddily. I tried to suppress a sigh. They knew who I was? "No, better," he replied seriously. Lifting me up and spinning me around like his baby, he winked at the two other girls and I got the impression that he liked them a whole lot more than the tanned girl because they did not try to steal him. "She's my Kalos Queen," "Sweet!" they shouted admiringly. "I'm Lillie!" piped the blonde. "Lana!" chimed the blue-eyed girl. "Mallow," said the invader moodily. I noticed two other boys, a tall, ebony-skinned one, and a pudgy, golden-haired boy. "These are Kiawe and Sophocles," said Ash, pointing at them in order. I flashed them a smile that made most boys my age faint and looked at Mallow seriously. "Hear that?" I hissed, loud enough so that the whole group could make out my words. "So. Back. Off." I expected her to look terrified, but instead, she scoffed and looked away. "Sure," she said sarcastically, batting her eyelashes at Ash.
I looked at her and saw her eye color was nearly the same as mine, but hers was slightly lighter and slightly less rich. She had on a green bikini and her emerald hair was tied in two cute twin-tails. "Oof," muttered Sophocles, although I wasn't sure who he was 'oofing' about. "So, Ash, where do I stay," I asked innocently, ignoring Mallow, who was making doe-eyes at him. His brow furrowed in an adorable way and he scratched his head. "Li, I would love you to stay with me, but the Professor's house is kinda too small to fit you. It's not that I don't want to be with you or anything, though," he added quickly. I nodded sadly and my eyes trailed over to Lillie's feet, where a small, snow-white fox was nestled. "Vulpix!" it trilled. "Your Vulpix is white?" I asked incredulously. Lillie smiled energetically. "Yep! Actually, all Alolan Vulpix are white. Rather than the Kantonian forms, which are Fire-types, their Alolan form is an Ice-type! Alola houses some different forms that what you are probably accustomed too, coming from Kalos." her pale green eyes shone excitedly. "I call mine Snowy," she said, bending down to ruffle its small icy white pouf on the top of its head. I crouched down to stroke it, and Ash gave a nervous shudder. "Be careful! Snowy can be a little frosty to people it doesn't know," warned Kiawe. I smiled at him kindly. "I'll be fine," I responded confidently. Reaching above Snowy, I tickled it gently on the stomach and it started rolling around, laughing. After it stood up, I picked it up, got to my feet, and brushed the sand off of its pristine fur. "Just like Olivia!" gasped Kiawe. "Who's that?" I asked, tilting my head curiously. "We have Island Kahunas here, rather than Gym Leaders," Lana informed me. "And Z-Crystals," added Sophocles. "What are those?" Now I was really curious. Ash looked excited. "I'll show you!" The rest of them piped in as well, except for Mallow, who leaned in and whispered in my ear. "Ash's Pikachu Z-Crystal is really special. There is nothing like it in Alola! That makes him special." her expression was smug until I inclined towards her and murmured back. "Yeah. Specially mine," her face twisted into a scowl and she growled low in her throat. "Let's began!" cried Lillie eagerly.
