CHAPTER 4

Ife's dress up here 👆

I had left my apartment in lekki around 8am and I am heading to my parents house in surulere. My mom had called me after that time and told me the person's wedding we are going to.

I'm wearing a three quarter white dress with wine lining, It's an old dress because I didn't buy the aso ebi. I did my makeup earlier this morning and I'm wearing my straight wig, I also have a transparent mules on.

I drove into the compound immediately the gate was opened by a domestic staff. I walked into the house and I met my dad in the sitting room watching the news.
"good morning daddy " I said and immediately hugged him
"how are you my dear? "
"I'm fine " I replied
"how is work "
"good. Where is mummy? " I asked
"in her room dressing up " he said while making a face "please tell her to hurry up " he continued
I laughed "okay "

I got up from the couch and headed towards the room. I opened the door and met my mum sitted on the bed and a lady doing her makeup.
"mummy mummy " I hailed
"shey Aduke mi niyen? " My mum just loves calling me by my other name, Aduke
"yes ma, good morning ma " I greeted
"how are you "
"I'm fine " I replied "daddy said you should hurry up "
"wo baba e de niyen o"

I didn't reply and I watched as the make up artist finished the makeup and tied her gele. My mom was dressed in the aso ebi picked for the friend's of the bride's mother which is different from the regular aso ebi. The makeup artist left after my mom paid her, we then walked to the sitting room to meet my dad who has been waiting for my mom.

"finally!" my dad exclaimed
"ish, oya let's go jare" my mom said. I just laughed at both of them as we all left the house for the party.

After the church wedding we headed towards the venue for the reception. I walked into the reception with my dad because my mom had waited behind with the bride's mother, we were lead to a table reserved for family friends.

The groom's parents and family danced into the reception followed by the bride's parents and other family and friends and then the bride and the groom danced in with friends and family.

My mom came to the table where we were seated with her other friends.
"good afternoon " I greeted my mom's friends
"ah ifeoluwakiitan, bawo ni? " Mrs shittu one of my mom's friends asked
"I'm fine ma " I smiled at her
"that's great, so when should we be expecting wedding invitation " she asked
"uhn mummy when the time comes " I replied
"okay o, as we're doing Tolu's we'll do your own too " Mrs Williams said. Another of her friend who is also the bride's mother.

"mummy, Tolu wants to see you " I turned to look at the person who had just spoken and I saw a light skinned guy .
"Ehn Ehn, okay before I go meet Ife, Mrs Abiona's daughter " Mrs Williams said " Ife meet my son Femi "she introduced
"hello! " he said stretching out his hands with a smile on his face
"hi! " I said taking his hands
"OK I'm going " Mrs Williams said as she left
"if you don't mind you can come to the table where I'm seated " he said
"uhm okay " I replied picking up my purse and telling my mom where I'm headed.

I walked with Femi to the table which was nearby. I said hello to the people at the table, we were all served small chops first and just then Femi started a conversation with me. We talked about work, schools, movies and stuff. One of the servers served drinks while another served me rice which I ordered earlier.

Around 5pm my Dad came tell me that it's time to go home
"okay I'll meet you in the car " I said. After he left I turned to Femi.
"it was nice meeting you " I said
"same here " he smiled at me
"okay, bye " I said as I stood up to meet my dad at the car.

I saw my Dad's car and I headed towards him when I heard my name being called.
"Ife! Ife! " I turned to see Femi
"sorry to bother you but if you don't mind can I please get your phone number? "
"uhm okay " I said and then collected his phone and typed in my number.
"thank you " he said

When I entered the car my mum turned from the passenger seat where she was and winked at me.
"what? " I asked
"uhm is it not your number he just collected "
"and so? "
" leave this girl alone na " my Dad said
" please tell her o "
"will you shut your mouth " my mom directed at me. I laughed at her and she gave me a scornful look.
