CHAPTER 3

As I walked into the office I murmured some greetings and smiled to the people I pass by. I was about entering my office when I met my colleague, Rotimi.
"Good morning Ife"
"morning Mr Rotimi, how are you sir? " I taunted
"oh please drop the Mr and sir" I smiled at that
"how is simi?" I asked. Simi is his wife and she's about 8 months pregnant.
"she's fine but she's been stressing me out with her cravings and mood swings " he complained
I laughed at that "you just have to manage and besides it'll be worth it at the end when you see your precious little baby "
"I know right. Thank you Ife "
You're welcome, see you later " I said as I walked into my office and settled down to work.

I was having lunch at the staff canteen when my phone rang. "Hello CEO Lewa's signature " I hailed shalewa immediately I picked up the call.
"abeg abeg " shalewa said as she laughed "how are you "
"I'm okay " I replied
"that's good "

She continued "uhm, I was wondering if you'll like to hang out later this evening?"
"where? "
"I just discovered one new restaurant at lekki phase 2, I heard that their food is nice "

I thought about it and said "no problem as long as the bills are on you "
"this your shakara is too much sef, because I offered I have to pay "
"yes now, you're a big girl " I told her

" pele o small girl. No problem, it's because I have gist for you that's why I'm agreeing to this, I'll send you the address, what time? "
"okay, 7pm? " I asked
"fine by me, okay see you then "
"bye darling " I said as I ended the call

"I'll have the chips and grilled chicken " I told the waiter who was taking our orders.
"I'll have the same thing "shalewa said.

After the waiter left I took a sip from my drink then I asked shalewa "so what's the gist about?
"well I might have someone you will like to meet " she said smiling
"And who might that be? " I asked
"well there's this guy, he's jimi's cousin, his name is Mayowa, very handsome, tall, single and ready to mingle, he's.... "
"can you go straight to the point " I interrupted her

"ahn ahn don't you get it? " she asked
"that you're trying to match make me with jimi's cousin "
"well if you put it that way, yes I guess "she said
"please I'm not ready for any relationship for now " I told her
"but Ife it's been over 2 months since all the Nonso  drama "
"and I'm still not ready, please just respect my decision "
"okay " she said in a low tone

"so mummy called me this morning "I said trying to start up another conversation
"what did she say ?"
"she said I should come home this weekend because she wants me to follow her to a party "

Shalewa laughed "she just wants to show you off. I would have loved to come but Jimi and I have somewhere to go " Jimi is Shalewa's fiance and they've been together for 5 years now, they're getting married in few months from now.

"and how are the wedding preparations? " I asked
"very stressful "
" sorry dear, I'll join you next week in the preparations "
"ah! Thank God, that'll be a relief "I laughed at her statement and then the waiter brought our food.
