Saturday 4:45 pm

Sean couldn't believe his luck. He was lost. He was cold. No one knew he was even out here, and now it was raining. He was getting soaked! This had been a miserable idea. Why did trees have to look so much alike anyways? Even his clever plan of marking his trail wasn't working. He swore he was going in circles. It was still light, but it was starting to get foggy out. He checked his watch, 4:50 pm? Had he really been wandering in these woods for over three hours? His stomach growled, rumbling loudly as he traipsed onwards. Man, he was starved, and he didn't even know if Erik was going to be there. Could his luck get any worse?

Sean hunched into his jacket, wrapping the hood from his sweatshirt tighter around his face. His fleece jacket was next to useless in this weather. Rain pelted him in the face. He could barely see through his glasses. They were fogging up something ferocious. Sean took off his specs, rubbing them against his soaked coat. A little better, but not much. Then something blurry and bright caught his eye. Were those lights he saw up ahead? Whatever possessed him to leave his car behind and walk? He hated the friggin woods. Yes, Sean squinted hard, those were definitely lights up ahead. Picking up his pace, he began to run, his duffel bag slapping against his shoulder. The lights got brighter. He ran faster. Unmph! Down he fell, right in a mud filled ditch. Man, geez oh man, what a miserable day! he groaned. He tried wiping his glasses against his coat but only succeeded in smearing them with dirt. Giving up on being able to see, Sean got to his knees and felt the wet ground. What had tripped him anyway? The dirt was ridged below his fingers. Tracks, he'd tripped on car tracks. Civilization! Hallelujah! Rain pouring down his back, Sean stood up, leaving his bag on the ground in his excitement. The light in front of him was attached to a porch. Thanks to the rain, it was getting dimmer, but when he squinted harder, the house looked familiar. Sean looked around, okay, there was no car parked nearby, but there were lights on in that cabin. He walked closer. Was that a plaque on the door? Yup, a hunter's prayer. He'd found Erik's cabin! Erik must have just left to pick up something fast. I hope it's beer, Sean thought, licking his lips. Forgetting about everything else, he went up to the front door and knocked, hard.
