April 27th, 9:05am

News of the accident spread like wildfire at the university. Apparently Brooke was a student here as well so the idea of two students from the same university being involved made the story a bigger deal than I liked.

The thought of Brooke ever walking across this campus at one point without me even knowing is a hard pill to swallow.

I feel like if I had noticed him before he decided to kill himself I could have ended up saving him. I mean, I guess everyone thinks that when someone they don't know dies.

"Are you going to be okay Casey?" Sam asks me as we pull into the parking lot at campus.

I asked her to pick me up today since Asa had an early morning lecture he had to be at. I still haven't picked up my car and I don't know when I will. The money Brooke left is just sitting in one of my drawers. It just doesn't feel right to me to use it.

"I should be fine. I just have to make it through my classes and then I can go home." I tell her.

Sam and Ashton were the ones that told me about the news of the accident spreading through school. It had been released in the paper and so everyone found out yesterday over the weekend. Now I had to deal with whatever backlash it would bring.

"I hope you're right Case." Sam says before she's getting out of her car and locking it behind us both.

Ashton meets us by the creative arts building where she takes dance classes. She had said she wanted to see me off before class.

"How are you doing Casey?" She asks as the two of us make our way towards her.

"I'm okay. My arm still hurts but I don't need the head bandages anymore so that's good." I tell her.

She gives me a small smile but I know she's forcing it. Both her and Sam have been extremely careful around me since they learned about what happened. They know I'm sensitive to the topic which is probably why they're so worried about today.

"Asa and I will come get you two for lunch. Met here yeah?" I say as I begin to back away. "See you guys later."

"Casey-"

I bolt away from the two of them before they can stop me, making my way across the campus towards the educational building.

The letter I read yesterday from Brook was still fresh in my mind. He didn't give any explanation in it, but he said that in the other letters there would be. If I want to know why he killed himself and why he did it how he did then I need to read the rest of the letters.

As scared as I am to know what's in them I know it's the right thing to do.

I will read his letters, I'll fulfill his last dying wish as a way to comfort myself for what happened. Maybe then this weight on my shoulders will finally go away.

"Hey Black. Is it true you killed that boy Jackson on Friday?" A large arm drops across my shoulders, pulling me down into a hunched position. Kade, one of the players from the football team, smirks down at me.

I scowl at his words as I break free from his hold. "What the hell are you talking about?"

He laughs like what I said is the funniest thing in the world. "The rumours going around. Are they true?"

"What? What rumor ... hmph."

A hand clasps across my mouth, stoping my question. "Why don't you piss of Delaware." Asa hisses at him a cold look in his eyes as he stares him down from over my shoulder.
