"Okay next question, please."
"You haven't answered my question!"
"What kind of questions is 'Do you believe in aliens'? I thought you wanted to get to know me better?"
"I am!"
Yeonjun groaned at Soobin's persistence. They've been playing for a couple of minutes and Yeonjun got to know some facts about the aforementioned male.
Soobin was a year younger than him. Lived alone in a mediocre apartment near the convenience store. Isn't exactly social and only has three close friends. Almond milk and bread is life. And his goal in life is to make money.
Yeonjun snickered at the last one. Unnoticed, of course.
Meanwhile Soobin didn't get much out of Yeonjun. Mostly because the older male had the tendency to avoid his questions such as:
"Why are you here?"
"Do live with your parents?"
"What's your goal in life?"
"What do you do for a job?"
"How did you find this place?"
And so on.
If only Yeonjun would answer, they would've finished the game much earlier.
"You didn't want to answer my important questions so I had to ask the ridiculous ones," Soobin scoffed.
Yeonjun sighed. Sure, he admitted that it's his fault he didn't want to answer Soobin's questions. It's just that, he couldn't. All of them hit a little too close to home.
Well, not that he had a home but you know what I mean.
"Okay I'm sorry," Yeonjun gave in, "I dont believe in aliens. They're just a science fiction that humans created to scare us."
Soobin chuckled, seemingly pleased that Yeonjun finally answered him. "Your turn!"
"Do you have a girlfriend?"
Soobin choked on his almond milk at the question. "H-huh?"
Yeonjun chuckled. "What? You asked me much weirder things than that."
"Well," Soobin started, his cheeks tinted pink as he averted his gaze to the road. "I don't have a girlfriend."
"Oh, so you're gay."
"Yes," Soobin squeaked. He played with his hoodie strings, expecting a snort of disgust from the male next to him.
Instead, he heard an amused chuckle. "You don't need to be ashamed of that, Soobin," Yeonjun said.
"B-but, being gay is a sinㅡ"
"Who the fuck said that!? I need to fucking speak with him."
Soobin was bewildered by how angry Yeonjun got. He's been hiding his identity for well over a decade now. He was once open about it, until a traumatic event happened.
"Someone in middle school," Soobin whispered, hoping Yeonjun didn't hear. However, Yeonjun obviously heard him since the car was silent.
The elder sighed. "Listen, Soobin, being gay isn't a sin. It never was. And if people say otherwise, don't listen to them. I'm sure they just do it for mere attention."
"People may be mean and harsh at times, but always remember there is someone willing to accept you as who you are. They're just... waiting for you to notice them."
Soobin felt his heart pound faster. This wasn't the first time he heard comforting words. His three friendsㅡTaehyun, Beomgyu, and Hyukaㅡoften tell him that it's okay to come out.
However, it felt different when Yeonjun said it. The short speech sounded much more reassuring compared to the thousands of words from his friends.
Maybe because of the way he worded it.
Or maybe because of his honey like voice.
Or simply because he is a stranger.
Yeah, maybe it's because they're not that close yet. Words from a stranger could sound better than those of a friend right?
While Soobin is having an internal battle with himself, Yeonjun is here feeling sour.
Someone willing to accept you, huh? Where did you get that from, Yeonjun?
Yeonjun snickered mentally at himself.
Who am I to talk about acceptance?
[ 🖤 ]
What do you think happened to Yeonjun?
This chapter was short btw hehe 700 words!!
And wait 100 reads??? Wow [Stawberries and Almond Milk] might surpass [Messing Around] and I would be hella conflicted'-'
