"ㅡthey actually swallow their prey whole! So like, they're the real definition of inhaling your food."
Yeonjun wasn't really listening. He only tuned in at that particular part and is now very confused as to what they were discussing about earlier. "What were we talking about again?"
Soobin frowned at Yeonjun clear disinterest. "Don't give me that look, I wasn't listening," Yeonjun frowned as well. Soobin sighed, shrugging before averting his gaze to the small dirt path ahead of them.
They were walking to the park. It wasn't far, only a ten minutes or so walk from the homestay. Soobin was all giddy and started to ramble about some "interesting" science facts.
Yeonjun noticed the change in mood and patted the youngers head. "Hey, I'm sorry okay?" He sighed. Soobin had a rough night and he doesnt want to make it worse.
"Well, you're suddenly a softie," Soobin giggled, causing Yeonjun to retract his hand with a blush. "It's justㅡ"
"ㅡI'm still kinda worried about you. Last night wasn't really thrilling."
Soobin blinked thrice. Wait... am I dreaming? Yeonjun cares about me? Yeonjun? Did he hit his head?
"Stopㅡ" Yeonjun turned his head with a hiss, "ㅡstaring like that!"
"Ooooh, are you getting flustered because of me?" Soobin teased, his eyes disappearing into crescents. Yeonjun groaned, this was definitely embarrassing him.
"Shut up, were here," Yeonjun snapped lowly, pulling Soobin towards the vast green land.
Soobin squealed. "I didn't know they had a lake!"
"More like a pond to me," Yeonjun replied, watching the medium sized body of water.
"Yeonjun, there are ducks! Come on!"
"Soobinㅡ hey, careful now, you're gonna trip!" Yeonjun called out when Soobin suddenly started running. He followed right after, panting as he halted next to the energetic younger.
"Why are you soㅡ Hey, waitㅡ Soobin! What the actual fuck!?"
Soobin took off again. This time he was headed for a flock of pigeons. He ran right through them like an excited puppy. His mouth was agape and eyes aglow, looking up as all of them flew away. Yeonjun did the same while walking towards him, minus the enchanted look.
The birds flew further away, maneuvering between trees and into the forest. Yeonjun sighed. If only life was that easy.
"What's with the face?" Yeonjun didn't even notice he was already next to Soobin. The boranette stared at him with inquisitive eyes.
"Have you ever wished to be born as a bird instead?" Yeonjun asked, turning his gaze to the forest. He could barely see Soobin shake his head.
"Nope, never."
"Really? Doesn't everyone, at least once, think about that?"
Soobin giggled. "Don't assume everyone has the same mind concept as you, Mr. Choi."
Yeonjun cringed at the name, pushing Soobin lightly, earning a laugh from the younger. "Why do you want to be a bird?" Soobin asked.
"Life as a bird is easy. No problems. And if you have problems, you could just fly away from it."
"Who said that birds don't have problems?"
"Huh?" Yeonjun tilted his head. Soobin smiled at him. "Come here, let me show you."
Yeonjun let Soobin pull him towards a small bird house near the pond. Just in time, a pigeon flew by, landing on the post before entering through a small hole.
The azurette perked up when he heard faint chirping of hungry squabs. "They have chicks," Yeonjun mumbled.
"Exactly," Soobin hummed. "What's your point? I still dont get it," Yeonjun raised his eyebrows at the boranette. Soobin sighed, crossing his arms.
"Yeonjun, birds dont fly away from their problems. They fly because they overcame them."
Yeonjun watched as Soobin's looked up, right when the mama bird took off again. "The moment they were born, birds are already faced with a problem: they can't fly, vulnerable to danger. And because their determination and constant training, they learn to fly."
Yeonjun nodded slowly. Soobins words were true. "Birds aren't always meant to fly. It's their choice whether to learn to do it or not. To overcome their problem or just give up."
Woah did you just say that, Yeonjun? The fuck did that come from?
"There you go! Hey, you're getting a hang of this motivational speech stuff," Soobin patted Yeonjun's back. "I am so proud of my pupil."
Yeonjun sneered. "You rascal, come here!"
"Uwaaah!!!! You can't touch me, blueberry!!"

"A bird isn't always meant to fly, they choose whether or not to."
Someone wise once told me that haha. I've never seen him now since he's moved to the US. I hope one day I could see him again and tell him how much he inspires me ❤.
Anyways should I double update? Ya know since I missed a few days of update :P
