Soobin was now face to face with Haknyeon behind a cotton candy stall. Soobin bit his lips, looking down at Haknyeon's very over worn sneakers. He could tell that the brunette was nervous too.
"So... how areㅡ"
"Let's just cut to the chase, okay?" Soobin squeaked. To be honest, Soobin was still very uncomfortable around the older. Memories of him being beaten up and called names in the hallways still lingers strongly in his mind.
Haknyeon was the worst.
The older sighed. "I'm sorry, Soobinㅡ no, don'tㅡ don't say anything yet," he stammered when Soobin opened his mouth to respond. He thought it would most possibly be a "sorry doesn't make up for what you did to me" or something along those lines.
"I know a mere sorry won't heal the damage I've done to you, butㅡ" Haknyeon grabbed Soobin's hand, surprising the younger. Soobin gasped when Haknyeon suddenly dropped to the ground on his knees.
"Please, please, please, please forgive me!" Haknyeon pleaded, his forehead on the back of Soobin's palm. The boranette became really flustered. "W-wait, Haknyeon sunbae, youㅡ Iㅡ please don't do this..." he sighed in defeat.
Haknyeon looked up at him with teary eyes, "do you forgive me?"
No. Soobin wanted to say, but it would be rude not to listen to him first. "G-get up first and explain why you bullied me in the first place," Soobin said, softly tugging at his hand so Haknyeon would get up.
The brunette did, wiping away any trace of tears. Soobin gulped, fiddling with the hem of his shirt. "So, what do you want to say?" He muttered.
"First of all, I'm very sorry for the way I treated you when the rumor came out. To be honest, I didn't know why I was mad. I actually didn't know why you even liked me in the first place. At first, I thought it was because you were gay and I was raised thinking that gays dont deserve to live."
Soobin really wanted to punch this man right here and now, but he got shot down by a hand gesture from Haknyeon. Signaling that he needs to listen further.
"However, after three or so yearsㅡbelieving that gays are disgustingㅡ, I realized that the reason I bullied you was because... because..."
Haknyeon bit his lips, looking down. "I-I'm confused about my own s-sexuality. It was after I met Sunwoo that I finally realized I was just insecure about myself. Being raised in a homophobic family was hard enough, and after seeing you being bullied because of it made me even scared to come out."
"However, Sunwooㅡ I just, nobody has ever made me want them so much. So I risked it all and came out to my parents. They were obviously furious at first and I thought it would persist until the rest of my life, but they unexpectedly accepted me after a week. I was surprised but very happy about it."
"So yeah, I ended up dating Sunwoo but I guess nobody would want to hear about that," Sunwoo rubbed his nape, averting his eyes towards the spinning cotton candy.
Soobin didn't know how to react. He just stood there, wide eyed, staring at Haknyeon. "Um... do you want to maybe... say... something....?" Haknyeon asked awkwardly.
To his surprise, Soobin laughed. Like literally cackled, like a motherfucking witch. "Oh my Godㅡ you were insecure!? Dude that's the worst excuse I've ever heard! Gosh I never knew someone could be so dumb."
"Hey, it was true! And I'm your senior, have some respect for me," Haknyeon pouted, glaring playfully at Soobin. Although he got insulted, he couldn't help but feel relieved that Soobin didn't claw out his intestines or anything similar.
After what felt like an eternity of laughing, Soobin finally calmed down. "Oh that was so entertaining, I was worried you'd blame me for your gayness," he said, wiping away tears.
Haknyeon looked confused. "Why would that be your concern?"
"I mean, I thought you caught my gay disease or something."
This time Haknyeon laughed with Soobin, "Being gay isn't a choice, Soobin. You're just born to be and deal with it," He said, earning a nod of approval from the boranette. "Wait, does this mean we're good now?" Haknyeon asked between wheezes.
Sigh, I'm just that forgiving am I?
"Yeah, you had your reasons and have gone through a lot too," Soobin said. He then turned expressionless. "There is one more question though."
Haknyeon flinched, scared of what Soobin might ask him. "W-what is it?" He stammered. Soobin stepped forward a bit, looking around before raising his hand next to his mouth to make sure no one heard him. Haknyeon was paranoid, what was this boy doing???
With a stoic voice, he questioned.
"So... who tops?"
