Kylee's POV:

After hearing the news about my mom, Mr. and Mrs. Walker wanted to leave their business trip early and hop on the first flight back. Unfortunately for them, the earliest flight wasn't for a few days. Leaving, Sarah, Kyle, and Bryan here with a us a bit longer.

My family and I spent all day at the hospital, rotating on who got to see mom next. Being such a big party, we were asked to wait in the hospital lobby instead of the ICU lounge. 8 people would go upstairs at a time, 4 waiting in the lounge and 4 heading to moms room. However, only 2, at most, were allowed in her room at a time.

As a family, we'd decided that chemotherapy was the best option for mom. Pretty soon, she'd be coming home and in a couple days, she'd start her first round of chemo. She would have visit the hospital each week for her chemo. Austin and Kade were still living here, despite being in college now. They thought about moving out but now, I think that option is completely out the window and buried 6 feet under.

It was now a few weeks later, and it was time for homecoming again. The Walker's were back but Sarah and Bryan still came over each weekend to stay with us. I enjoyed their company.

My mother was doing well in her treatments but I'm not sure if she was feeling up to going to the game tonight. It was Blake's senior year and he had gotten nominated for homecoming court. Bryan, Sarah, and I did too.

This year, Blake and Sarah has become one of the most popular couples at school. They were cute together and our 2 families were big around here. After all, both of her brothers are/were football players and one of the was homecoming king last year.

Blake and Sarah are running for king and queen together and everyone would most likely vote for them. Heck, Bryan and I are running against them and I'd definitely still vote for them. This year, Bryan's dad has volunteered to walk me across the field at halftime.

Halftime:

It was almost our turn to walk across the field. Bryan, Sarah, and Blake had already gone and I was up next.

"Up next we have Kylee Harrell, #15 on the field, and your Junior Class Vice President. Accompanying her, is her boyfriends dad, Mr.Walker. Kylee has all AP classes and 6 brothers. Running against her and Bryan Walker, are her brother, Blake, and her boyfriends sister, who happens to be her best friend, Sarah."

Okay well when it's put like that it just sounds kinda weird. Once everyone had finished walking the field, and the adults had dispersed, it was time to open up the envelopes and announce the much anticipated results.

"Cannnnn I gettttt a drumroll pleaseee" the announcer said, excitedly.

The drummers from the band started to play and the whole crowd was excited to hear who would be crowded homecoming king and queen this year.

"Withoutttt further ado, your Saints homecoming king and queen areeee... our favorite football and cheerleader couple, Blake Harrell and Sarah Walker!"

I was super excited for my brother and my best friend. Even if Bryan and I didn't win, they definitely deserved to. With Sarah a cheerleader now and Blake a football player, they had this thing in the bag.

Luke was a freshman and being a running back at his middle school, made him a shoo in for Kyle's old position. Kayla and Ashley were JV cheerleaders along with Chase's little sister, Alice. Hailey was still in middle school but she was now an 8th grader and would be here in no time.

Speaking of which, with Kayla and Ashley being cheerleaders, that meant we'd get to host a sleepover every once and a while. The girls on the team took turns hosting them for 'team bonding'. We hadn't held one yet but we were about to.

Just then, the door bell rang. A few of the JV girls were already here but we were still waiting on a few to show up. I walked to the door and when I'd opened it, there stood Chase and his sister, Alice. I think Alice liked Luke and that Luke liked her back because as soon as she'd arrived, he was downstairs in a heartbeat, waiting for her. Alice came on in but before Chase could turn around and walk away, I spoke.

"Can we talk?" I asked.

"About?" He said, keeping it short and to the point.

"You know what" I huffed out. He knows what happened at homecoming. It's literally the only thing that actually happened between us.

"Fine, but make it quick." Chase said as I followed him out onto the porch. We both sat down onto the steps, next to one another.

"Look, I know you're mad about our little tiebreaker game, okay, and I'm sorry. The team made the deal at the park, the day we met, right after Bryan and Kyle left to go home. It was before I got to know you, before I knew the real you. You're an amazing friend and a really good guy. And I know you know we're great around each other. We relate to things and plus, I'm failing Spanish." I started to apologize. He laughed. "So I'm really sorry that I hurt you. I didn't mean to and I'm sorry."

"Well I was mad, but I got over it, it's fine. I accept your apology. Although, I suppose I can understand where it was coming from. The guys made the deal and you went along with it. And as for Spanish, well I gotchu." We both laughed. He stood up and extended out his hand to help me up.

"Well I better get back in there." I said, noticing another cheerleader had just pulled up in a white car.

"I'll see you around Kylee." He said, walking away towards his parked car in the driveway.

"See ya around Chase" I said before opening the door for the next girl.

I walked back in the house and was prepared to face a very girly, loud, a long night. With all the cheerleaders here, I headed upstairs to leave the girls be. They were camping out in the living room wiu mattresses, pillows, and blankets everywhere. ( see below )
