Cedric was looking around the library, trying to find the Gryffindor he had been crushing on for over a year. His eyes scanned the whole place before spotting her, she was scowling and glaring at the quidditch star, Viktor Krum and his squealing fangirls.
Cedric smiled and walked towards her,
"Hey, Hermione, right?" he asked her, even though he knew the answer, he just decided to play it cool. She looked at him in confusion before nodding slowly, "Do you mind if I sit here?" he asked, she nodded before going back to her large, leather-bound book. He felt a little put-out at her not talking but sat in front of her anyway.
He opened his book and began reading about dragons. Though, he couldn't focus because of the beautiful girl in front of him. He cleared his throat and looked up at her, her big curious eyes were staring at him with an eyebrow raised,
"So, what are you reading?" he asked her and she narrowed her eyes in suspicion before answering,
"A book about dragons." she said slowly, his eyes widened before he remembered she was best friends with Potter. He didn't like him, Cedric always suspected that they were together and now he had a chance to ask,
"Are you and Potter together?" he asked and she shook her head vigorously with a nervous laugh,
"No. No. He's just my best friend." she said with an odd look that made him curious, she shook her head once more before going back to her book.
"It must be hard thinking about the tournament." he said. She nodded, fear flashing through her eyes for a second, "Knowing that Harry could die any second." Hermione looked up, her mouth dropped open and her eyes were as wide as saucers. It took Cedric a while before realizing what he said, but as he was about to apologize, she slammed her book shut and walked angrily out of the library but not before sending Cedric one last glare.
HARRY’S POV
"Queen to H5. HA! I win. 3 galleons please.” Dean said with a smirk, Seamus begrudgingly handed his best friend 3 galleons, the portrait hole opened and Hermione came in, fuming.
“What’s wrong?” Ron asked her, she looked at him and I frowned,
“Diggory!” she finally said after several seconds, I was about to ask what about Cedric when she ran to me and hugged me,
“Don’t you dare die in the tournament, Harry!” she said before bursting into tears and running up the stairs to the girls’ dormitories. Everyone in the common room was staring at the spot she was,
“Mental, that one.” Ron muttered before everyone went back to what they were doing. I rolled my eyes, not bothering to say anything knowing that he'd just ignore me.
