I forgot to mention in the intro chapter that I don't have access to the manga. So, while I am trying to keep this as canon as possible, it is a bit hard to do. I am mostly just going off of what I have seen in the series, on Tiktok, and in other fanfics.

Jump forward a few weeks. You and Hawks had gotten closer, and you had started to feel more comfortable around him and a few of your coworkers. You sit on the couch, chewing on some chicken that had been offered to you as Hawks talks about his last patrol. You take mental notes of what he is saying here and there so you can remember it when you have to write about it later. "Hey, Kid." Hawks says, pausing his little ramble about his patrol. "Yeah?" You response. To this, Hawks leans in towards your face, causing you to shift backwards a bit, your eyes widening a bit. Is he going to- No. No no no. You and Hawks's relationship wasn't like that. Hawks draws a hand up to your face, swiping his thumb across your cheek before leaning back. "You had something on your face." He chuckles, a smirk on his face as he looks at your tomato like face. You gave him a dumbfounded expression as a reaction. "What, were you expecting something else? A you disappointed, (Y/N)?" He questions, cocking a brow. To this, you're snapped out of your trance as you rapidly shake your head. "N-No! You just- Took me by surprise! That's all!" You reply, averting your eyes away from the man. To that, he just lets out a snicker before continuing on with his story.

The work day goes on as it usually would, you leave Hawks' office to go about your day while he goes on patrol, do your work, talk with a few of the people you were working with, the usual. It wasn't till you heard a loud crash from behind you that something out of the usual routine started happening. Glass fell just behind your seat, nearly cutting you in the leg as you spin around to see what was going on. And there, standing before you, was one of those terrifying Nomus. While the majority of the people working there panicked and ran away, or used their quirks to fight the beast, you just stood there im shock, unsure of what to do. Obviously, fighting the thing would be of no use to you, being that you have no quirk and all. But, you felt as if you were frozen in place. Your legs wouldn't budge as you and the beast made eye contact. You were scared and your mind kept telling you to get out of there, but you just couldn't. "(Y/N)!" Someone yells, grabbing you at the last second, taking you with them as they run out of the office building.

Fun fact about Nomus. You become their target as soon as they lay their eyes on you. Despite being literally braindead, they are extremely strong willed. So, what did the Nomu do when you were whisked away from it, it followed. "Fuck!" Your rescuer yells, letting go of your arm. "(Y/N), get as far away from here as possible. Just keep running and don't stop until you're absolutely sure you're safe!" The hero says before pushing you to get you running. You look back, watching as he starts to fight the Nomu in attempt to hold him off. You shake your head before you make your way outside. Once out, you stall for a bit before turning and running down the road. Once again, the League had released countless villains throughout the city, allowing them to rampage as they please. While you had seen these attacks broadcasted on TV, you had never actually experienced one first hand. What would you do if you were to get cornered by one? Should you just accept your demise and hope that a hero would come to save you last second? Should you try and fight them off?

You turn a corner and decide that you should be safe to take a break and catch your breath. Slowing down, you rest your hands on your knees, panting and gasping for air. With a few coughs and wheezes, you straighten yourself up and start to run again. It took you a while to notice, but you were in an alley. No big deal, as you didn't think that Nomu was following you. But oh boy, were you wrong. A thud and a screech can be heard behind you, causing you to swiftly spin around, looking at the creature who had cornered you. This was just as you had feared. Your heart rate increased almost instantly as the beast stalks its way towards you. You didn't want to die, not yet. There were so many things that you had yet to accomplish. So many places you had wanted to see. You step back as far as you can, trying to think of any possible way to escape. After coming to the conclusion that the only viable option of escape was to take your chances and try and just run past the Nomu, that is was you do. You use the wall as something to help you dart off, running past the beast, causing him to chase after you.
