Elles POVIt's been a few days since graduation. All I could think about since then was how wasted I was, and how much I made a fool of myself. The whole night was still a blur to me. All I remembered was trying to make Noah jealous, and getting too drunk and ending up in the bathroom throwing up.
The morning after the party I fled home, not only to save my self from humiliation, but to avoid a certain someone. I don't even know why I acted the way I did. Its been a year, he clearly moved on, and so did I.
Thankfully, to get my mind off of the past, Lee texted me and asked if I wanted to go to lunch and hang out at the beach. So that's where I was at now- getting ready for a day with my bestie. A much needed day.
Just as I was finished getting ready, Lee was honking at me from my driveway. I laughed to myself, some things never change. I slipped my light yellow vans on, and rushed out the door.
"Bye dad! Bye loser!" I yell, kissing my dad on the cheek and flicking Brad on the forehead.
"Have fun honey, don't do anything I wouldn't do!" My dad has really been on to my case about the other night, and I don't blame. We exchange smiles before I finally rushed out the door.
"Ah, there she is. Do you still have a hangover from the other night?" Lee smirked, wanting to start an argument.
"Less talking, more driving!" I giggle, rolling my eyes. "I'm glad I get to spend the day with my bestie, just me and you."
Lee looked at me with a worried look, awkwardly laughing. "Yup! Just me and you," he whispered something more under his breath, but I couldn't quite hear what he said. I decided to let it be, and enjoy the California sun, because, for all I knew, I wouldn't be in it much longer. But that's something to tell Lee another day.
.
After a nice drive to the pier, me and Lee took no time going to both our families favorite restaurant.
"I'm so starving!" I exaggerate, holding my stomach. Lee gives me another awkward look, so I decided to finally ask what was going on. "Why are you acting so weird?!"
Before Lee could answer, the waiter came to our table. "Are you guys ready, or are we waiting?"
Before I could answer, Lee interjects. "We're waiting!" I give him a confused look and he quickly blurts, "look, my mom made me do it!"
"What are you talking about?" But suddenly everything made sense. Noah and the familiar blonde from graduation and the party walked over confidently to our table. I was going to kill Lee.
"Hey, little brother," Noah stated, sitting down, across from me and Lee. Noah completely ignores me, not even looking at me. "I introduced you to Tae the other night, right?" A slight smirk appeared on his lips, he was trying to make me uncomfortable.
"Maybe, you introduce me to too many that I lost count of who is who," Lee said so confidently. I couldn't help but let a chuckle leave my lips. Maybe I wasn't going to kill Lee for this, but I was going to hurt him badly.
Noah finally shot me a dirty look, but thankfully before the glare could last any longer, the infamous Tae spoke. "Omg! Wait! Aren't you the girl who stripped and jumped in the pool the other night?! And the girl who was sucking faces with like several different guys?"
She was one of those girls. A blonde who wasn't smart, but definitely had the looks. As me and Lee would like to call her, an OMG girl. "Yup, that would be me." I knew my cheeks must've been blazing.
The waiter finally came back, breaking the awkward tension. After we ordered, Noah and Tae started to have have their own conversation, so Lee and I did too.
I kicked him underneath the table, as hard as I could. "I can not believe you didn't tell me that Noah was gonna show up! That's like the dickiest moves of dick moves!" I whisper shouted.
"Okay, I get where you're coming from, but this is pure comedy to me. Watching my best friend and brother bash it out, while having her here is perfect entertainment."
"I'm glad you find this entertaining," I whined. "But doesn't she remind you of an-."
"OMG girl," we said in sync, instantly laughing.
"Could you guys quiet down? Some people are actually trying to enjoy their day," he muttered, "I guess some things never change, still the annoying little brother and best friend."
"You know what, Noah? You're right. Some things never change." I never broke eye contact. "Old habits always come back," I say, looking at Tae. "You know best, don't you?"He knew exactly what I was talking about. It was clear he restored back to his player ways.
"Jealousy doesn't look good on you, Tae." I can not believe he had the audacity to say this.
"Elle, maybe we should go-." Lee started, but I cut him off.
"Who gave you the right to be a self entitled dick, Noah? You come back from Boston and think you're the shit?" I tried my best to hold back my voice, but all my emotions from the past year came running back. All he did was laugh shaking his head. "I can't believe-." I continued to yell at Noah, but he cut me off, standing up from the table.
"As much as I would like to hear about your thoughts and feelings, I have to take this," he said, picking up his ringing phone, in the most sarcastic tone. Before anyone could say a word, Noah booked it out of the restaurant.
Tae and Lee started to fill the awkward void with small talk, while I was stuck in my thoughts. I teared up thinking of the way me and Noah use to be, and where we were now. Yeah, we may have not ended on the best of terms but I would've never imagined we would be where we are now.
Trying to snap out of my thoughts, I try to focus in on Tae and Lee's conversation. I instantly regret my decision when I hear them talking about her breast implants, and of course Tae had all Lee's attention. The conversation took a turn, and now they were talking about Tae and Noah's sex life.
I stand up from the table, grabbing all my stuff. "I'm just gonna go get some fresh air, I'll be back in a minute." I give Lee a reassuring look, and walked away fast before he could say otherwise.
The tears started to rush down my face so I went to grab a tissue out of my bag. And of course, to make things worse, I bumped into someone.
"I'm sorry," I cried. I looked up and realized I had just bumped into the man who was the reason I was crying.
"Why are you crying?" Noah said, in the most monotone voice. As if he actually cared.
"I don't know why we are fighting, Noah. There's no point," I sighed. "But I know I don't want to fight with you, so I'll try my best to stay out of your way." I wiped the final tears off of my face, walking away.
"Wait! Elle, where are you going? You haven't even ate yet."
"Yeah, well, I don't have much of an appetite."
