Chapter 14 : Dayna Leah Wilson P.O.V.-

Merida comes in with a serene look on her face. I feel almost like I should be prepared for whatever she says to me, before I realize that maybe I'm over-reacting.

As she approaches closer, all I can think about is how Alexander looks so much like his mother. Both of them have similar eye color but Alexander's is a shade darker, more intense. Mertida's is more muted, more peaceful. They even have the same nose shape and a similar body shape, not very much that's clearly visible but you notice it when they walk. They have the same strut.

He's a mama's boy for sure.

The both of us settle on the discussion-ready sofas and I mentally analyses the order of events leading me to this point right now.
I got engaged because I was drunk to a man I barely know.
I left my previously stable job and fully furnished apartment to come to work in one of places I least thought about mainly because I, or anyone really, thought a medical currier could never develop to the degree most people desire in a small city, I obviously thought wrong.
I had to move for one patient who later turned out to be a wolf, that was one person among the city of werewolves...only one of the many within hidden parts of world really.
Then I found out about mates, and let's not forget the minute fact that the pack alpha is my mate!
In the middle of all this, I met Finn and Thorne and so many people who made me feel more comfortable in my newly seen surrounding, and here I am. In a sofa. With Merida.

All within three and a half weeks. The joy! (cue dramatic music)

I try to take an inconspicuous deep breath as to not bring attention to my own nervousness. Anymore revelation and I might just have to crack myself open. The suddenly my phone rings making me jump a little.

I look at the name, and switch it off.

I should be more comfortable in my setting because it's literally what I do with people for a living, yet here I am.

Merida looks at me with an eyebrow raised.

"My mom." I reply " I've been kinda avoiding her. I can't keep secrets when I'm with her you know." Merida smiles a little.

"I don't think you'd want to engage in small-talk beating around the heavily burning bush, now do you?" Merida starts again after a beat. Well, there goes any hope of redemption.

However, I do appreciate her choice to cut through the chase and not lag behind. I guess being a Luna comes with being confident in any situation, having the pressure of being alone and learning to be completely independent, which must be hard enough that it toughens one up. My respect for her individuality just keeps growing each encounter.
