Chapter 4: Challenge

After I finished answering all of the various questions that the reporters threw at me I made my way backstage. As I was walking down the hall when I noticed Endeavor and Hawks talking to eachother, I walked past them but couldn't help feel the angry stare of Endeavor watching my every move. It makes sense, it's my first time in the top 10 and I don't do much publicity. Guess it's only normal for some of my fellow pros to not be so trusting towards me.

I continued walking down the long corridor trying to find Miruko and as I did only one thing kept popping up in my head; why did she want to see me? Could it be she was going to scold me for checking her out or maybe just kick my ass? Whatever it was, I was nervous as hell and what followed didn't really help ease my nerves.

Out of nowhere Miruko jumps in front of me making a fake roar that scares the hell out of me. "Jeez, if I can sneak up on you like that, just imagine what'll happen when a villain does," Miruko said while chuckling. "Well usually villains don't try to pull of sneak attacks in government buildings," I respond. "Hm, guess you're kind of right. So what was it I wanted to talk to you about?" she said in a fake curious voice "Oh yeah, that's right, I couldn't help but notice you staring at me during the show". Shit, she saw. "Uh look I'm really sorry Miruko I didn't mean to stare I swear". She's silent for a few seconds then gets closer to me and says "Here's the thing, I don't accept your apology newbie, not yet anyway. I'll make you a deal, meet me at my agency at around 3:30 and go straight to the training room. We'll have a sparing match, if you win I'll accept you're apology and leave you be, plus it'll prove that you've earned your spot as the #8 hero. But if I win, you're going to have to do something important for me". She finishes her sentence by saying that last part right in my ear in a low voice that makes me shiver a bit. "So, we got a deal?"she says. "Sure," I say while letting out a small nervous laugh. "Good," is all she says before turning away from me and leaving the building.

And now the one question that pops into my mind is how the hell am I going to beat her?
