Camila's POVIt was Saturday and I sadly had to cancel plans with Shawn due to work. I had homework to do and a job to fulfill and I knew that my reasonings were valid and not excuses but I couldn't help the guilt that stuck around in the pit of my stomach. Or maybe, it was my hunger that was bothering my stomach.
"Cammy...it's your lunch break, why are you still working?" Angela popped her head into the back where I was currently fixing some broken covers.
I sighed, "I forgot a lunch and I really don't want to go out right now...so, I'll just wait it out until I'm home."
Angela had offered me a half of her sandwich which I kindly declined, knowing that I could go a few more hours without some fuel. Although, food sounded so good right about now.
Shawn's POV
It was one of my days off and luckily, so far, I haven't been called in for any reason at the hospital which meant that everything must've been running smoothly.
Currently, I was out at lunch with my father who was the Chief of Surgery. It was definitely a plus to have him as my boss but still, during work hours, he treated me like everybody else. My family and I were all very professional and knew exactly how important our jobs were.
"I heard that you've been seeing someone..." my father smirked and I couldn't help the blush that grazed my cheeks. My mind wandered to Camila who I knew was at work right about now at the library that was just around the corner from where I was.
"I-...well, she's a friend...or...something, I don't know what we are but we're getting closer." I shrugged, knowing that I could tell my father almost anything without him judging.
He nodded, biting into his twirled pasta, "what's her name?"
"Camila Cabello...she's a really close friend of Dev's."
Dev and I's families were close due to her father also being a surgeon at the hospital that was ran by my father. Dev and I met when we were fairly young and drifted once we were in high school, knowing that we both had different schedules and friend groups. There was never any bad blood between us and just recently this year when her dad has transferred hospitals have we been reconnecting as friends.
My father's eyes lightened up, "oh...yes!" he tapped his chin, realization hitting him. I furrowed my eyebrows, not entirely sure with what he was thinking about.
"She's the girl who I heard is incredibly smart and she works at the library, yeah?"
I nodded, in shock that he knew who I was talking about. My father caught on, confirming what he meant.
"I see her with Dev often when Dev's father and I hang out."
We talked more about surgeries and Camila, mostly Camila. Majority of the time, my father was berating me with questions involving Camila and I couldn't help but smile the whole time.
I thought about grabbing something for her to eat. I wasn't sure if she had eaten or not but it couldn't hurt to try.
I purchased a pesto pasta and a banana smoothie. I walked down the block, quietly humming to myself, my heart kicking start at seeing her even though I've seen her practically every other day when I wasn't busy at the hospital and she wasn't busy catching up on school.
I walked towards the women at the desk, remembering her from a week ago when she intentionally embarrassed Camila and I. A memory I was quite fond of. She looked up to me, smiling warmly.
"Hello, dear." She welcomed me with the warm smile still plastered on her face. I remembered her name, Angie...no. Angela. Yes, Angela.
"Hey, Angela...is Camila here?" I held up the plastic bag that consisted her food and she smirked, "of course she is."
I nodded, "I'll go grab her."
Not long after waiting in front of the desk, the beautiful, angel like women came through the doors that lead to the back, I assumed.
Her smile brightened as she locked eyes with me and skipped over, running around the desk and embracing me in a hug. "What are you doing here?" She mumbled against my exposed skin on my neck that wasn't covered by my scarf.
I pulled away, slightly, still having her wrapped in my arms, enjoying the warmth she radiated to my body and soul.
"I brought you lunch," I handed her the bag, "I hope you're hungry."
She giggled, "I am, actually...I forgot a lunch today. Thank you." She kissed my cheek, letting it linger for a second. It made my stomach do flips and my heart soar.
I waved it off, smiling as she gasped at the meal that I had bought for her. "How'd you know?" She was referring to the items. I remember it came up in a conversation and she told me her love for bananas and her favourite lunch and dinner was pesto pasta.
I silently watched as she settled her things down. As I stood, smiling like an idiot. All I truly wanted to do was kiss her and hug her and tell her how I felt about her but I refrained from it, knowing that now wasn't the time nor the place. I wasn't completely sure if she reciprocated the same feelings as I did but one thing I did know was that I was completely falling for this wondrous of a women.
I placed my hand over hers, grazing her knuckles with my thumb over the table. I cleared my throat, "are you...are you free tonight?"
She looked up at me, "I have some work to do but I wouldn't mind some company." She shrugged, nudging my side.
"Okay...I'll pick you up again...my house?" She nodded and I smiled, kissing her cheek.
"I'll see you later, beautiful." I whispered into her ear, hugging her one last time before walking out with the most giddy smile on my face.
