OPENING HER DEEP BLUE eyes, Ella was met with the warm rays of the sun, bouncing off her face and every inch of her exposed skin.

The blinding light above, it wouldn't let up, creating a layer of sweat on everybody's bare flesh. As a result, no one complained when Rick made a detour from the one road they had been following all day, which only made all of their muscles ache, desperate for twilight to make its grateful appearance. That had been one of the reasons why the group decided to camp out for the night, because of the heat, again, settling underneath all of the flourishing oak trees surrounding them.

Before the night came though, the adults decided to begin unpacking the few items of their considered luggage, in an effort of making the dirt ground a little more comfortable for evening. That included scavenging, as people like Daryl, or even Carol, had ran off, looking for things like food or water that would, hopefully, last them awhile. This left Ella, and Carl, in charge of watching Judith, the little infant who could barely take care of herself yet.

In reality, this was mostly Carl watching the baby, not her. Ella still declined any involvement with the child, knowing it would only make her emotional, right after she was able to get a handle on her random rushing waves of tears. Of course, when certain memories would pop up in her mind, it still took a lot of strength to not break down all over again. Usually, she was able to avoid such occurrences, often distracting her mind with something way off topic.

That was nearly impossible now though, especially with Judith always being so close. After all, if she were to be friends with Carl, the baby was just part of the package.

However, out of almost instinct, Ella found herself glancing out of the corner of her eye, taking note of what the boy beside her had been doing every once and awhile. This time, she caught sight of him trying his best to give the infant water out of her worn out bottle, but it didn't seem to be going very well. Judith would only kick or squirm, causing Carl to spill the much needed water on her clothes, or the grass filled ground below. Something like that was rare for the child, but given all the heat and lack of food, it was only natural for her to be grumpy or upset in situations like these.
