I was dressed in a beautifully designed maroon lehnga. Roses embroidered with a combination of gold and maroon threads of silk, lay over the georgette material of my skirt.
The plain maroon silk top I wore was designed with similar small roses over the neckline and borderline of the sleeves.
A gorgeous dupatta of the pattern similar to the skirt lay over my beautifully French braided bun.
"It seems as though she's showered with roses, which only enhances her ethereal dusky look." my friends said.
My wrists were full of bangles. Rings adorned my fingers, while anklets bejeweled the ankles. The intricately designed henna beautified my arms and legs.
I sat on the new bed, with a veil over my head, waiting for my husband, just like every bride does.
My hands reached the gold necklace I'd worn, given to me by my parents. And, I cried.
All of the effort everyone made to get me ready seemed to go waste since my face was covered with tears and gloom. There wasn't an inch of happiness and excitement on it unlike every other bride.
How would it be. Any bride who hears her to be husband talking to his ex, saying that he isn't interested in getting married, the day before the wedding would feel the same. All of the dreams that you've been building regarding your husband just goes down the drain in a flash.
And I couldn't get those words out of my mind.
The worst part was, I couldn't do anything about it. I just couldn't stop getting married to this man who humiliated me.
And then, I felt so ashamed sitting on his bed, faking to be his happy bride.
All the while I kept thinking how should I react when he enters the room. Should I pretend that I don't know anything and let it all be normal or should I slap the truth on his face? Both the matters had their own consequences.
I felt helpless like never before.
Shaking my feet wildly, tears rolling out of my eyes, I kept thinking what to do when the door knob clicked. I tilted my head slightly and saw through my veil. Finally, he had come.
