I woke up the next morning with a rather sore back. I sit up, unzipped the tent and stepped out and took in a breath of fresh air. I extended my arms and stretched before I give out a hearty yawn. It seems to me that everybody else was still fast asleep. The twilight of dawn crept into the sky, barely a glimpse of the morning's first rays. Deep in thought, I didn't notice right away Amelia who had already awoken and was out of the tent. Her head was full of a mass of unkempt hair then she yawns loudly, similarly to five year olds, subsequently she stretches her arms gradually and cracks her back.
"Didn't see you there, Jasper. Good morning!" she beams.
"Good morning to you too."
"Tell me, how was your sleep?"
"Quite wonderful actually," I replied. As if I had given her the wrong answer, a frown mars her morning face. When I said it was a good sleep, no, in fact it was the worst I've ever had.
"No fair! My 'everything' is killing me! Every inch of my body is aching!"
"Who's the softie now?" I scoffed.
"Oh shut up!" she pouted. "Ow," She winces and I couldn't help but laugh.
"Well, whatever. I'm glad to know you're feeling fine." She whispered.
"Uh-huh," I saunter towards her and snake an arm around her shoulders. "So what's next on the list, Girl scout?"
"Please, my head hurts, I can barely feel my arms and my back is seriously killing me."
"All those in one night?"
"Quit teasing, will you?"
"What do we do today?" I asked.
"I thought we could spend the day together by ourselves you know? I'm heading to the kitchen this morning-Kiara pleaded me to go help with the cooking. She was so excited when I agreed; now I fear I might not be able to keep up with her."
"You're leaving me out? What will I be doing then?"
"You decide. I mean you could read a book, take a nap or something, while we bake. In the afternoon, we could go painting."
"You paint?" I asked rather in disbelief.
"No, but I did bring some brushes with me and some cans of paint."
"Cans of paint? Why bring that much for a two day vacation? And no wonder you've got seven bags."
"It's the dresses, Jasper!"
"Again, two day vacation."
"Kitchen in the morning and for the rest of the day, we paint!" she exclaimed. Jeez woman, I get it.
"Alright, Alright. I know where we could do that." I assured her.
"Glad to hear you're cooperating." Like I have a choice, it's always your way we follow. Not like I hate it though!
"So, I'm going to get ready. I'll be taking a shower in your room if you don't mind!"
"What? There's plenty of shower rooms all over the palace, why pick mine?"
"So I'll save the maids a worry, you know how pushy they can get right?" well, our maids do have that tendency, they're only devoting themselves to our satisfaction, as it is their job.
"And my clothes are in your room."
What's the use in arguing so early in the morning?"Fine, Fine go ahead. Do as you please." I've said what was expected of me.
"Yes!" She squealed but she doesn't leave without a hug so I just had to let her do whatever.
So, So early in the morning, my sleep hasn't completely vanished and yet this woman, ha. This woman had already pounced on me. I put my arms around myself mimicking her embrace.
