~JASPER'S POV~

Have I gone mad? As ludicrous as it sound, I might have. I’ve been feeling ill at ease for the past few days. To be more specific: approximately two weeks, three days, nine hours, seven minutes, and 10 seconds if I do say so myself. Similarly the duration of Amelia’s absence. It had been that long since I’ve seen her, and somehow that did not bode well for me. I had been feeling troubled recently, my chest flutters now and then—after a little while it becomes less violent, perhaps it was her absence that had caused it. I’ve no idea!

“Waspwer?” I shut my book and set it down the nightstand.

“Kiara?” It was my younger sister. She must have been feeling lonely again.

“Could you open the door please? I’ve got no one to play with.” Her voice went on its monotone.

“Come in, the door is unlocked.” I replied. The knob twists with an audible click and my sister ushers herself in.

“Hello, Waspwer!” I sighed.

“It’s Jasper, Kiara. Jas-Per do you understand?” A brilliant smile stretches across her face.

“Was-Pwer, Waspwer my brother!” she said.

Sighing in disbelief, I shook my head and mustered a smile. There’s no use correcting her.

“Come,” Kiara squeals, skipping her way to my bed and eventually crawled into the covers with me.

“I miss Amelia,” she says sucking on her thumb. What is it with chil dren and thumb sucking?

“I miss her too.” I reply in a breath.

“Do you like her, brother?” I look at her with a small smile on my lips.

“What do you mean?”

“Do you wove her?”

“What’s going on in that pretty little head of yours? You can’t even pronounce my name right and you’re asking me about something far more complex.”

“I think you do,” she giggles, snuggling closer to me.

“As a friend.” I replied.

“For now!” She exclaimed, wiggling her brows playfully.

“You’re just as weird as her.” I joked.

“Since you wove me, that means you wove her too!”

“That doesn’t make sense,”

“No! You wove her!” she defended.

Just as I was about to say another word, the door flung open, and an enthusiastic Amelia stood by the door way.

“Who loves who, Kiara?!” She blurted. Looks like she invited herself in for the umpteenth time around. Amelia was wearing a periwinkle sleeveless dress, and black shoes, what seemed like pearl earrings and royal blue ribbons on her hair to top it off. She looked wonderful, as per usual.

“Oh that was nothing!” Kiara replied with a mischievous grin playing at her tiny lips, then she whispers to me: “You’re dead when she finds out!” she snickered. Kiara then jumps off of the bed without saying another word, and so did I. She pounces on Amelia, and they both fell, giggling.

“I miss you, Amelia!”

“Oh, I miss you too Kiara!” She replied pulling her into another embrace.

“Where have you been?”

“I just had a lot to do but I’m here now.” Amelia smiled.

“That’s good to hear!” Then Amelia’s eye averted to me.
