Chapter 27 (Our Small World)

We walked towards the festival. As we walked, more and more people were on the road.

"S-Should w-we hold hands..?" I offered blushing.

"Sure!" She smiled.

Suddenly, a group of people packed my left, forcing me to be side by side to Takagi.

I blushed and looked the other way.

After a while, I glanced to her side and witnessed the most unexpected thing.

"T-Takagi-san..? A-Are you blushing..?" I asked.

She drifted her gaze.

'W-Wait.. T-Takagi-san is blushing?! T-Takagi-san?!' I thought.

We then arrived at the festival, meeting some unexpected faces.

"Oh! Takagi-chan and Nishikata-kun!" A voice shouted behind us.

When we turned, we saw the trio, shooting suspicious looks at us.

Mina leaned over to Takagi's shoulder and whispered.

"Is this a date perhaps?" She asked in a playful tone.

"Hmm, I wonder? What do you think?" Takagi answered.

"I think that answered my question hahaha!"

"We better get going! Have fun you guys!" Mina said to us.

"O-Okay, b-bye.." I replied.

We bid goodbyes to each other and went our separate ways.

"H-Hey T-Takagi-san.. what did M-Mina-san ask you..?" I asked curiously.

"Hmm, let's play a game. If you're able to guess it, I'll do whatever you want." She suggested mischievously.

"W-What? A game..?"

"Yes! A game." She answered excitingly.

'Th-This can be my chance to ask T-Takagi-san her weakness! I need to guess correctly..' I thought.

"I-Is it about us..?"

"Hmm, maybe?" She grinned.

D-Da-Date?!

D-Did Mina-san ask her if we were on a date?!'

'B-But if I guess wrong, sh-she'll tease me for it!'

"A-A date..? D-Did she ask you if we were in a-a date..?"

I wasn't ready for what I was about to witness in the next few seconds.

Takagi-san, blushing shyly.

"Y-Yes.." She answered me.

I looked away in embarrasment, thinking.

'W-What?! I-Is Ta-Takagi-san blushing?!'

"U-Uhm, T-Takagi-san..?"

"A-Are you okay..? Y-Your face is so red, do y-you have a fever?"

Unknowingly, my hand reached out to her forehead.

I was left speechless by what my eyes saw.

There, Takagi's surprised and blushing face in my direction.

I turned my back and just laughed awkwardly.

"H-Haha.. W-Why are you looking at me like that.. T-Takagi-san..?"

Moments later, a warm touch had caressed my back.

Holding me tight, she whispered.

"You're unfair Nishikata, who wouldn't get taken aback with you today.." she murmured.

"W-What-" I asked confusingly when she cut me off.

"I want to stay like this for a little bit longer, can we..?" she asked in a daring but flustered tone.

"O-Okay.."

She continued to hold me tight and I was lost in that feeling.

A feeling of warmth and happiness.

I kept blushing and we probably didn't
even notice the fireworks exploding beautifully in the background.

All seemed to fade away, like we were stuck in our own little world.

A world where there's us. Only us.
