#24 Weakened Bond

Jayla's POV

I was walking towards the main room to look for a way to help Izzy without having to use The Cup when Raj walked up to me. "What do you want?" I asked, already wanting the conversation to be over.  "Isabelle wanted to see you" He told me and I walked towards the room where Izzy was waiting.

"Jay, I need your help" She said  "What with? What's happened?" I questioned my mind running, "It's Alec, he's going to try track Jace using their Parabatai bond" She spoke, worry on her face "Is he insane? Their bond could brake. I'll try and talk him out of it" I reassured her  "Thank you, and good luck you know how Alec can be" She told me.

Next mission, find Alec, before he causes even more problems.

I was walking through the Institute until I found Alec, In a room with Lydia and Hodge "Alec, you can't do this" I told him cutting Lydia off "They're right" Hodge agreed, making Lydia glare at me, "I'm not letting Jace sacrifice my sister for his girlfriend's pointless crusade" Alec, ignored us. "We're doing this. And if you don't want to help, get out." He said looking at me "Can I talk to you for one minute?" I asked Hodge and Lydia left the room.

"Alec, you can't do this" I told him "I just said if you don't want to help get out" He repeated "Do you even hear yourself. You could break a bond, that could kill you from the inside. Putting both and Jace in a vulnerable state, Alec please, I don't want to see either of you like that. I'm begging you Alec, don't do this" I said my voice breaking towards the end. He walked towards me and put his arms around my waist "I have to do this Jay, for Izzy, I'm sorry" He spoke quietly, as if I was going to break, if he spoke any louder. He gently pressed his lips to my forehead, I held back the tears because I knew this moment wasn't going to last.

We pulled away at the sound of footsteps "I'll help... But on one condition" Hodge said "What?" Alec asked "You don't let it go too far. Now your bond with Jace can withstand a certain amount of strain. But you have to promise me that you won't let it break" Hodge spoke "Jace is dead to me" Alec told him. I love Jace, but Alec had a point. Jace betrayed him, for Clary. "Alec?" "You don't know how dependent you are on the bond, or how dependent you are on each other." Lydia added "I have to do this. For Izzy" Alec, ignored them. I helped him with his shirt, since I knew where the rune was, "What are you doing Jay?" Lydia asked "Helping, what does it look like?" I spoke, now holding Alec's shirt. I wonder if he'll let me keep it. 

He laid down on the bed, "Prepare yourself" Hodge told him "This will be very, very painful" "Do it." Alec said. I sat down next to the bed, watching, wishing I didn't have to see Alec like this. "Concentrate" Hodge said "Reach out with your mind... and your heart" He continued as Alec, was breathing heavily through the pain, "Use every strand, every fibre of you that is connected to him." Hodge continued walking Alec through it. "It's working" Alec gasped "I can see him." He groaned "Jace!" He shouted "You know where he is?" Hodge asked, as Alec screamed.

Alec, Lydia and I ran to where he saw Jace "No. No" Alec panted "What was that?" Lydia asked "I don't know" Alec said "It's a portal to another dimension used by Seelies" I answered, and Lydia looked at me "I do my research" I told her while Alec, smirked at me "But if they're in there, they're not coming out." Alec finished. 

"Hey. Hey, Alec! Jayla!" "Just... Just wait" Alec told him "What happened? Are you and Jace okay?" Izzy asked him "No." He answered "Our parabatai bond, it's just... so weak. He's like a ghost" My heart started to hurt at what Alec was saying "Alec, what did you do?" Izzy asked, "Lydia and I thought we could stop the trial if we gave the cup to the Clave." Alec told her " Lydia helped you?" Izzy asked "It doesn't matter" Alec answered, I nodded to Izzy but Alec didn't see.

He sat down "She has no choice but to go through with the trial now" He said, Izzy sighed and sat down next to Alec "It's ok, big brother. I know you tried." Izzy told him, he sighed "I'm sorry" he spoke, Alec soon left the room.

"What happened?" Izzy asked patting the spot where Alec was just sat "What? Nothing happened" I hid "I can tell, tell me" She begged getting excited "I guess me and Alec had a moment" I said "Now, you have to tell me" She continued, I laughed a bit at her excitement while I told her about what happened before he tried to track Jace.

"It just hurts a bit I guess" I told her "Why?" She asked "He's not with me, that moment was something that I dreamed of having, a relationship with him again, I miss him, I need him, Izzy" I let the tears fall as she wrapped her arms around me, "Why can't he see that?" I cried "It's not that he can't, his duty to our mother, to restore our name is too much for him. He loves you, Jay. He won't go through with marrying Lydia he can't" She told me.

Alec's POV

"Thank you" I said and walked away towards the room where Izzy was, Raj just looked at me and walked away, but before I went in I heard talking. "I miss him, I need him, Izzy" I heard Jay cry, it hurt my heart "Why can't he see that?" She continued to cry "It's not that he can't, his duty to our mother, to restore our name is too much for him. He loves you, Jay. He won't go through with marrying Lydia he can't" Izzy told her, I walked away "I'll talk to her later" I told Raj walking away.
