#18 Tell me

Jayla's POV

"She's with Jace." Alec said, my hand still in his, "The same Jace Wayland who decided to lead an unsanctioned raid against the vampires? I've read reports" Lydia said "Jace might be unconventional, but he's our best solider. If he's with Clary then she's in good hands." Maryse defended following Lydia "I hope so. And for your sake, all of New York. All of your jurisdiction better well be protected." She said staring at all of us.

"I'm not a fan." Izzy said as Alec, her and I all walked into the main area "Join the club, I want to punch her in the face" I said agreeing with Izzy. "Jealous?" Alec said "No." Izzy and I said "Maybe." Izzy said. Alec's phone starting ringing, "How the hell did she catch that arrow?" Izzy said "Exactly" I added. Alec stopped to look at his phone,  before rushing over to Maryse and Lydia. "I have something you need to see" He said "Something attacked the Jade Wolf." A picture came up on the monitor of what looked like a forsaken. "The werewolves' headquarters where did you--" Maryse started but was interupted by Lydia, "Where did you get these?" "The leader of the New York wolf pack." Alec said calmly "You're friends with Lucian  Graymark? An ex-Circle member?" She said "How about we send, Jayla and Alec to investigate?" Maryse suggested "I'm sure this is linked to-" "Valentine" Bitch interupted her again, "I'm sorry, but it's rude to interupted people," I said, Lydia glared at me "I need to see for myself." She added walking away "Are you coming or what?" She asked looking back at us. Alec and I followed theres no way I'm leaving those two alone. 

"I can see why all the girls in Idris are clamouring to meet you," Lydia said out of nowhere. What? He's my boyfriend. Mine only, "What do you mean?" He asked grabbing my hand and running his thumb along my knuckles, "Rumour has it you're looking to settle down" Lydia stated. I stood there not moving in shock. I let my hand fall out of Alec's. He stopped walking but Lydia didn't stop the conversation "Get married." She added "Damn it." He muttered realising the situation he was now in, why would he keep this from me. "I'll be back at the institute, I'm sure you two will be fine here" I said leaving before anyone could stop me.

As soon as I got there, I tried to rush to my room, "Where is Alec, and Lydia?" Maryse asked me "They're, um, uh, still at the Jade Wolf they, um, didn't need me anymore," I stuttered "Do you know where, Izzy is?" I asked "I think she's in her room" she told me "Thanks" and I ran to Izzy's room. I was knocking on her door when she finally answered before breaking down, I don't cry over a lot. But when you find out your boyfriend is looking to get married and he didn't tell you, you just can't help but cry, really. "Jay, hey, why are you crying? Come here" Izzy said pulling me into her room and locking the door before hugging me "Alec's looking to get um- married and he didn't tell me." I stuttered, "He should've done, I'll talk to him when he get's back. You go train," She said.

After I finished training, I walked back to my room and I saw Magnus talking to Alec. "Jay, wait" Alec called I ignored him and carried on walking. He managed to grab my wrist, forcing me to look at him, "What Alec?" I sighed "I'm sorry Jay, I know I should've told you, but I didn't know how'd you react, and I didn't want to scare you, I love you Jay, only you" He said "Alec, you need to tell me things like this, okay? I'm going to my room, I need to shower and change" I told him before leaving him stood in the institute.

Alec's POV

"Lydia, do you have a minute?" I asked "Alec, I'm sorry about your parents, but my hands were tied." She sighed "No I...I know. The law is hard, but it's the law, and I respect that. But I've realised that I have to listen to my heart." I spoke "Let's not forget where that got me" She said with a slight chuckle "I know. And I can't bring John back. But, like you said, our families have been strong allies. And we can use that to our advantage. Together we can restore my family name and we can keep the institute." I said "And we'd get to run it." She said. I got down on one knee, "Lydia Branwell... Will you marry me, Alec Lightwood?" I asked

Jayla's POV

I saw Izzy running to the training room/area. I followed her, as soon as I got there, I saw Alec laid on the floor with a giant cut on his arm. "Oh, my God! Alec, are you okay?" Izzy rushed over to him. "Alec!" shock took over me but I walked over to him and sat behind him helping him sit up, "Oh, my God!" Izzy whispered softly "Are you alright, Hodge?" I asked "I'm fine," He said

Alec, Izzy, Robert and I were all sat in the medical room "Don't squirm" Robert said "I'm not. It doesn't even hurt" Alec slightly moved in discomfort and his phone started ringing he sighed and went to grab it. "No, talking, I'll take it" I said leaving the room with his phone,

(JA- Jayla JC-Jace)

JC- Alec, I need you

JA - It's Jay. We need you. There's been an attack at the institute

JC - An attack?

JA- Valentine, created a Forsaken that went through the wards

JC - That's not possible Jay. Nothing can get through the wards. They're... They're warlock spells to defend against all Downworlders. 

JA - Not this one, Izzy said it had Seelie blood, with angel properties. Jace, it went Hodge and Alec.

JC - Are they okay. Is Alec--

JA - They're all banged up, but they'll live. Hodge killed it. It was after--

Clary- The Cup

JC - Jay, I'll be there as soon as I can
