Genetically Engineering Tiny Dragons (???)

OKAAAAAY I'm officially some weirdo with impossible dreams. Hey, at least I'm a happy weirdo. Anyways, I'll shut up and get to the explanation of ideas n' stuffs.

Explanation of where this weirdo idea came from

In case you don't know what Genetic Engineering is, let me explain (aka copy and paste).

Genetic engineering is the process of using recombinant DNA (rDNA) technology to alter the genetic makeup of an organism. Traditionally, humans have manipulated genomes indirectly by controlling breeding and selecting offspring with desired traits.

Genetic engineeringGenetic engineering, also called genetic modification or genetic manipulation, is the direct manipulation of an organism's genes using biotechnology.

So there it is, folks. Weirdo science. Anywho. What I'm wondering is if I could Genetically engineer dragons. I'll divide this into two parts: What I actually know, and What I'm hoping is even possible.

What I actually know

Is that I would take safety precautions!! I'd probably start with trying to make some forest dragon that eats bugs. Since bugs reproduce so quickly, I assume it wouldn't do much harm if they ate a truckload of bugs a day. (lol not an actual truckload, that would probably harm the environment, but still) Because y'know, say for example I sent them into a forest and they ate, say, birds. This example is completely hypothetical and I have no idea if this is true or not. And say the birds ate the bugs and the bugs ate grass. Well, when you add dragons that eat a lot of birds everyday, that would mean there would be less birds, which would mean there would be more bugs since there's nothing to eat the bugs, and then the more bugs would eat more grass, meaning there would be less grass and destroying all the grass. Get it?

So, I would probably square off a part of a forest, put in a few dragons, and see how that section of that forest reacted. If all the grass started dying or something, I would know that it wouldn't be okay for dragons that eat bugs to go live in a forest. The other thing I would do is make them really tiny!!! Like, cat sized or something. We really wouldn't want gigantic dragons with wings rampaging around now, would we? The last thing I'm debating on is whether to make them pets or wild animals.

If they were wild animals, they would probably be like deer. Actually, more like stags, I think. IDK, they wouldn't be prey, but they wouldn't be hunters either!! Ehm. They would kinda just be there, y'know? minding their own business until something tries to attack them. I was also kinda thinking that if they were wild animals, they could help other animals? Like maybe I could put them into some protected endangered animal's habitat, and the dragons could know how to stop a hunter or break traps or something. ehm.

if they were pets, I guess they would be like cats. y'know, just pets. and someone would probably invent some sorta dragon food. Would they be more like dogs or cats? actually, yeah, I think they would be cat sized, but act more energetic, like dogs. they'd go outside to poo then. treat them like a dog, i suppose.

What I'm hoping is even possible

All the genetic engineering stuff. I'm HOPING there's some lizard that has a similar body type to the dragons I'm imagining that I can use as a base, I'm HOPING there's some way I can genetically engineer wings so that first of all they're big enough to fly with, and second of all they actually look like dragon wings and not demented cardinal wings. I'm HOPING I don't accidentally make man-eating monsters. I'm HOPING I can even genetically engineer ANYTHING, let alone dragons. I'm HOPING you'll be able to tell them apart. that would be pretty cool, and especially useful if they're going to be pets.

Comment whether you think...

I'm crazy

This is a great idea

IDK

they should be pets

they should be wild

this is entirely impossible, I'm outta here weirdo

wow, I published two parts in one day. go me.
