KURAIN VILLIAGE
Unfortunately, I had to leave Nicolas behind, so that he may be able to get help in recovering his memories. For now, I decided to pay a visit to his father with a guide. Morgan had been the first to volunteer, not wanting to farther trouble her younger sister. I can't blame her. Misty had just discovered her youngest daughter had been murdered and is trying to put on a strong front for everyone's sake. I know that has to be hard on her, considering that everyone else is panicking. Luckily, no one in the Prosecution's Office is aware that Shelly De Killer is still alive and residing in the Kurain Village. That remains confidential.
Morgan and I arrived at the village, but I made a phone call along the way. I did not want to approach this man without some form of backup. I may've grown a bit reckless, but I was no fool. I needed someone with me just in case this former assassin tried anything funny. At the same time, I didn't want to rile up any of the villagers here. Luckily, most of them have never left the village, so anyone would come out as a tourist, including myself. I decided having at least one officer with me would suffice.
"HAHAHAHA this was certainly unexpected to receive a phone call from you, Freddy," The annoying clown laughed, clapping his hands.
"Unfortunately, Ms. Skye is still working on her case with Prosecutor Fey and I don't want to leave any trails to the two cases I'm currently working on," I replied, folding my arms.
"What about Badd? I'm sure he'd be more than excited to take the job of bodyguard," Detective Gant smirked.
"He'd scare the villagers, Gant. Also, aren't you about to be promoted to Chief Detective?"
"Ah, true. Though, I must remind you that you... don't exactly have as much power as you used to, Prosecutor."
"Hmph, you don't need to remind me!"
"Shall we continue? Honestly, I'm getting tired of waiting," Morgan asked.
"Certainly. My apologies for making you wait, Ms. Fey," I apologized as Morgan nodded and led the way. As we made our way to the former assassin's location, I turned to Gant. "There's another reason why I called you. If I was to take anyone, even my son, there's a good chance this man may not be too... friendly. But, you're someone close to someone he trusts."
"... Greg," Detective Gant said, his voice sounding grave. (1) "Heh, should have guessed."
"Here we are," Morgan said, her eyes pointing towards a hot dog stand. There was a man making and selling hotdogs, who looked just like your run-in-the-mill hotdog seller. Taking a closer look at that scarred face, it was clear who he really was. "Unfortunately, this is where I'll take my leave. I do not want any misunderstandings from him." (2)
"That is fine. Thank you for your help," I thanked Morgan.
"Thank you, Mr. Von Karma. I'll be back at Hazakura Temple."
I watched as Morgan took her leave and I made my way to the hotdog stand. Approaching the stand, I could see that this man did not miss a beat in continuing that hotdog seller façade. I have to say, he's good at blending in. I suppose that's what makes him a deadly assassin.
