First up -- DA HUNGER GAMES -- KATNISS EVERDEEN

Okk so where do I start? I think I'll do some characters first? 

KATNISSSS

what a queen omg. ALL HAIL THE GIRL ON FIREEE okii lets get down to business so i once saw someone say that Katniss is selfish, manipulative, and just overall a horrible main character. I- wha- ok lets go over this shall we? I honestly don't see any way at all that Katniss is selfish - she volunteered to take her sister's place for what she thought was going to be certain death, she went into battle to fight for the freedom of the districts, also remember when she said "I should've eaten those berries in the arena and died like I should've, then everyone would be safe" I mean not really safe cause like the Hunger Games but she meant it with good intentions yknow? Cause the people aren't safe from the Capitol ESPECIALLY if they're doing uprisings. There's also the berries. If she was selfish, wouldn't she have let Peeta take the berries? Sure, you could argue that if she did that she'd probably get backlash for it, but she was willing to die with him rather than make it out of the arena alive without him. Then again there's the aspect of putting on an act for the Capitol.. what do you guys think? 

Okie now for manipulative - i mean every Victor was probably manipulative in one way or another, right? Johanna manipulated everyone into thinking she was weak and scared, Finnick manipulated the Capitol sponsors with his looks (to some extent at least, because of course he also had his trident skillzzz) Katniss and Peeta manipulated the Capitol into thinking they were in love (which turned out to be real tehe;)) but I think this person meant she's manipulative on a more personal level, because a whole chunk of the trilogy is about how they're manipulating the  Capitol. As for personal manipulation I would say that no, she doesn't do that. At least not that I can think of. I will admit that Katniss can be a confusing person to someone else in the book, because as readers we can see inside her head. So uhmmmm I'd say not manipulative but somewhat confusing? Take Gale and Peeta for example - Gale couldn't possibly know everything going on inside Katniss's head while she was acting in love for the cameras, and he did think that it was real because their acting was *chefs kiss* IMMACULATE, but Katniss on the other hand was obviously going through a pretayyy rough time and might've not explained to Gale thoroughly enough that he got it THROUGH HIS HEAD that Katniss was not (yet ;) ) in love with Peeta. So you can see how it could be confusing for Gale, but Katniss wasn't manipulating him. Again, let me know what you guys think!

Mkkkkkk now for the "horrible main character" part. No. Nonono. Katniss is a strong, independent, woman. She knows how much of an impact her words have on the people of Panem, and she uses them (her words haha not the citizens of Panem) to do good. Sure, like any other main character, she has her flaws, for example not opening up easily (of course that can also be considering a good trait depending on how you think about it) but she's overall a good person. Think about that time in Mockingjay when Haymitch asked for moments when Katniss truly moved them. When she volunteered for Prim. When she covered Rue in flowers. When she pulled out the berries. It's true that she can be a lil prickly but she really does a good heart. Once again, let me know what you think!!
