Chapter 12
You awoke to the bright lights of the medical bay, shivering as you felt something cold touch your back. “Oi, thats cold!” you screeched out as you jumped up, instantly regretting the move. pain seared through your back, and as you doubled over closing your eyes, you felt a pair of warm arms help you back into a sitting position on the operating table. “(y/n) p-please don’t jump a-a-around like that! You’ll only h-hurt yourself m-m-more!” a voice filled with concern said. You opened your eyes to see Toby standing in front of you, holding you up as Slenderman and the rest of the family except Eyeless Jack watched from the other side of the med bay. You jumped up to hug Toby, happy to see that he was ok, but as you wrapped your arms around him, you noticed yourself in the mirror. “What’s this?” you asked as you walked over to the mirror looking at the marks on your forehead and hand.
“That is the sign of the Balancer. There is only one Balancer every hundred years, and they are the only ones who can permanently hurt or kill Proxies, demonic entities, angelic entities, and any other kinds of supernatural forces.” Slender explained as he stepped forward with the rest of the family, continuing, “I may have forgotten to mention that another role our family and all of the branch families play is to keep things in balance between the light and dark forces of the world. We also provide most of the chaotic force in the world, and we are suppose to keep the demonic forces in check, whether by executing criminals in our jobs, or by keeping entities like Zalgo at bay. Normally, the Balancer works with our families to help keep things balanced and in check. However, it is a very dangerous lifestyle, even more dangerous as our own, and the powers of the Balancer is kept secret between the Balancers, or at least, between the Balancers that decide to side with the Creepypasta families and keep the world in balance. They have a journal that they keep all their secrets in, but it may take me a while to find it.”
You sat down, dazed by all this new information, and as Toby sat and hugged you, you felt the ice cold feeling on your back again. “H-h-heeeeeey! That’s cold!” you yelled as you tried to jump up again. Toby held you down as you heard a voice behind you say, “Geez (y/n) if you don’t quit jumping like that, we’ll never get the swelling on this wound to heal up!” “So that’s where EJ was hiding,” you thought as you asked, “What wound EJ? All I feel is that icy cold feeling.”
“That’s actually good,” Eyeless Jack said, continuing with, “As we were leaving the clearing, Zalgo got one last attack on you before he had to head back to his realm. When a demonic entity like him gets seriously injured, they normally retreat to their own realms, where it’s safer for them...In some cases, including Zalgo’s, they can transform into a mist-like form for a short time. He did that when you injured him, and reformed long enough to wound you before he left. normally this wound have been a fatal wound, but between Slenderman teleporting us back here as quick as he could, and whatever physical changes that came from you becoming the Balancer, you were able to stay alive long enough for me to get you into a more stable condition. Since then, I’ve fixed up your wound, and it was healing quite nicely until Ben screwed up when we were rebandaging it.” “Sorry,” Ben said. EJ continued, “After that, an infection set it, and we finally got it all out and realized the swelling was still pretty bad, so we brought you back down here to reduce it, which we’re almost done with.”
As EJ finished, you looked up at Toby and asked, “Wait, all of that couldn’t have happened in just a few minutes….how long was I out?” “3 w-weeks,” Toby answered as EJ took the ice pack off and started to re-bandage the wound. “3 weeks?!?!?!?! and no one bothered to wake me up!!!!” you yelled. “We t-t-tried (y/n)....you never woke u-u-up, and w-we were a-afriad you wouldn’t wake up a-at all,” Toby said as he kissed your cheek.
After EJ was done rewrapping the wound, you all headed upstairs for dinner. You ate so much food that SLenderman had to cook more to make sure everyone was fed, and as you all ate, everyone brought you up to date with what all had happened during the last few weeks. As you fed Smile dog a bit of food, Laughing Jack piped up, “Oh (y/n), you wouldn’t gueeeeeeess who is here at the hoooooouuuuse now!” “Who, LJ?” you asked as you shoveled more food into your mouth. Sally jumped up into your lap, saying “Uncle Splendy is here, and so is…”
“So you’re finally awake…” a voice interrupted from behind you. You had heard this voice before, and your heart practically jumped into your throat as you gulped, scared to face what was behind you.
