Kayla walked down the hall towards the staircase being stopped by Elliot who wrapped his hand around her arm. She stopped to look at him confused and that's when she remembered he wanted to talk to her after the musical. "Kay, can we talk really quickly?" At that moment Ricky stops by the staircase. He was going to make his way up to congratulate his best friend until he heard Elliot's voice. The blonde girl only nodded standing by the staircase. Her blue eyes looked at Elliot who leaned against the railing. He was running his fingers through his hair in frustration not knowing how to tell the blonde. "Are you okay?" She was a little worried about him. Mostly because he wasn't saying anything and continued to stare at the floor. "Kayla, I.. I like you a lot. And I just really needed to tell you that." His blue eyes made eye contact with hers. She held a shocked face and didn't know what to tell him. Her blue eyes slowly looked down and she took a breath in. How could she let him down easy? Without hurting him? He was a really nice guy but her heart belonged to someone else. At that point Ricky's smile fell and he held a face of worry. What if she liked him back? But then why would she let Ricky hold her hand? Elliot notices how she started to hold the roses tighter than she was before. Ricky leaned against the wall next to the stairs waiting for her response. "Look Elliot you're a great guy. I mean you have beautiful blue eyes and have such a charming personality that I know you can have any girl falling for you..." Her eyes met his for a second and then she looked away. Her eyes were looking around the floor trying to find the right words.
Ricky's brown eyes looked at the ground and he let out a small huff. He was holding a polaroid picture of him and Kayla together. Hearing those words come out of her mouth made him feel like he wasn't enough for her. It's like she was already telling him she liked him back and that really hurt him. "But I'm not one of those girls. I only see you as my friend Elliot and I'm sorry. I know you'll find the right girl someday." She placed a hand on his cheek and gave him a smile. Elliot looked at her and slowly nodded. His blue eyes looked down at the floor and he tried to not to show hurt on his face. Ricky's head raised up and a small smile made its way to his face. The blonde girl started to make her way down the stairs causing Ricky to panic a little. He started to walk towards the bathroom to make it look like he came out of it. Kayla was thinking about how she had never realized that Elliot liked her? I mean yeah he would always try to hang out with her but she thought it was because he was being friendly and wanted to be close friends.
The short girl was halfway down the stairs when Elliot spoke again. "Is it because you like Ricky?" He raised his voice a little, catching her off guard. She stood there for a minute looking down at the floor. It was because of Ricky but she didn't want to hurt him anymore. She turned around to look at him with a raised eyebrow. "Stop Elliot. I don't want to hurt you." Elliot shook his head and rolled his eyes. Of course it was about Ricky he thought to himself. Ricky never learned just to stay away from her. He was always around her and wanted her all to himself. How selfish of a could he be? "He doesn't deserve you! Not after what he did." Kayla ignored him and continued to walk down the stairs. She was not going to argue with him about Ricky. Not when Ricky meant so much to her. She also knew that at some point she would say she loves him but she wanted to tell Ricky. And only wanted Ricky to hear it first.
