Chapter 5: A piece of cake

Anna looked back and forth between the two suddenly feeling the tension like a slap to the face, she turned back to Lucy who was looking to the side in frustration before speaking.

“Maybe I should go...I'll come back another time, Justin’s waiting in the car anyway…I’ll call you Luce, bye Peter”. She quickly left through the front door as Peter kept his eye on Lucy watching her every move.

“Why didn’t you tell me Luce.”

He tried to kept his voice at a normal level waiting for her reply as she huffed before turning towards him glaring. “Hmmmm, I don’t know Peter maybe cause you go all protective and suddenly feel the need to try and pull the big brother act!...maybe that’s why I didn’t feel the need to give you the update”.

She yelled shaking her head making Peter run a frustrated hand through his hair. “So?...you only meet the guy what, yesterday?...and all the sudden your going out with him for dinner.” His voice was becoming more harsh as he began to make his way over to her crossing his arms over his chest.

“You barley know the guy Luce, he could be a psycho for all you know.”

“It’s a date Peter…you act like I’m marrying the guy and signing a death warrent, oh. By the way I don’t see you getting to know any of the girls you meet. Oh sorry did I say meet. I meant sleep with and leave.” She yelled poking him in the chest before walking around him only to be grabbed by her upper arm making her turn back round to meet his glare.

“This isn’t about my relationships or lack there of, I don’t want you to get hurt. You don’t know how guys work, trust me I know...I'm one of them.” Lucy shook her head in disbelief.

“Newsflash Peter, not every guy is like you...sorry but it's true. He’s a nice guy  and for the first time in a long time someone wants to take me out for dinner, in case you forgot that doesn’t happen a lot for me. So I would very much prefer if stayed out of my business.”

Peter watched her eyes begin to water as she put her head down trying to hide her emotions from him, which suddenly made him feel like the biggest jerk in the world as he pulled her into his arms making her hide her head in his chest.

“I’m sorry cupcake...I just…you know what I’m like, and you have to listen to me.” He spoke as he put his fingers under her chin to make her look up at him.

“You are the most beautiful person I know and guys are stupid not see that…so if this guy is as nice as you say he is, I’m ok with it. I think”

He finished making her smile as he tried to rid the sick feeling in his stomach he had, had since the argument had started. Lucy give him a quick squeeze before she straighten herself out. “Thank you Peter it means a lot…and I mean it. He’s a really nice guy trust me.”

He nodded suddenly feeling his chest clench a bit which made him grab his chest as he rubbed it making Lucy look in worry. “You ok?”

“Yeah I think it’s just indigestion, ate that sandwich a bit too quick I think.” He spoke trying to ease the feeling in his chest. Lucy nodded watching him. “You wanna watch T.V or a movie?” She spoke nodding towards the couch smiling at him.

“Sure Cupcake.”
