It was Friday. Cassie knocked on the door to Professor Lockhart's office. Then, she pushed the door open and Lockhart was sitting down, cleaning his portrait frame.

"So, what's the punishment?" asked Cassie. "Honestly, sitting down and listening to you talk about yourself is punishment enough."

Lockhart ignored her comment and said, "Well, I've finished answering my fan mail. So lovely, they are. Now, unfortunately, you will not be serving your detention with me. It just so happens Professor Sprout needs help with some plants for a lesson."

"I'll head to her office then," said Cassie.

Lockhart escorted her. Cassie wished she could use her wand and make Lockhart shut up, but she didn't want to get into more trouble.

"Miss Malfoy, thank you for helping out," Professor Sprout said. "Now, where is that Weasley boy?"

As she finished her sentence, Fred Weasley had walked in casually, hands in his pockets.

"Ah, there you are, Mr. Weasley," said Sprout. "I see you're taking your sweet time... " The two followed her to the third greenhouse as she explained their punishment. "Now, you'll be de-fanging vampiric vegetation and cleaning a few supplies — And no magic for you Mr. Weasley." Fred Weasley placed his wand back in his pocket. "Honestly, we should just give you detention every Saturday for the year."

"That's just not fair, Professor," said Fred. "Cassie's worse." Cassie was surprised. Never had Fred Weasley called her by her first name. "She shouldn't be allow— "

"I lost us fifty points, Weasley, give me a break," said Cassie, crossing her arms.

"She insulted a teacher," said Fred. "I only— "

"Insulted the ghosts, portraits, vandalized the school, and snuck into Filch's office countless times?" Cassie interrupted.

"All right," said Professor Sprout. "Enough of your bickering. Bad enough I have to hear it in class. Get to work. I'll fetch you when classes begin again."

Cassie stared at the fanged plants before her. "All right. Let's get this over with."

Cassie was cleaning the supplies and some pots quickly. Magic made it a whole lot easier. After, she began de-fanging the vampire plant just as Fred spoke.

"Flint finally let you on the team, huh? Can't believe it, you persuaded him by using money."

Cassie held the plant up to his arm and it bit him. She pulled it away and took its fangs out saying, "I didn't persuade him with money. And for the record, he asked me on the train back to King's Cross."

Fred stared at her for a moment. Cassie was hardworking and wouldn't give up on a task once she set her mind to it. Fred had started to admire that about her.

"'Mudbloods and blood traitors,'" Fred spoke after another moment.

"What?"

"You seem to say that a lot. Not as much as Richmond, but quite a lot," said Fred as he leaned against the table. "You say those terms, but I saw your face in the courtyard."

"I'm not following you here," said Cassie.

"When your stupid brother called Hermione a Mudblood," Fred explained, crossing his arms. "Now, I know Adelaide doesn't care about blood purity — thank Merlin— "

"How do you know that?" Cassie asked. She was the only person who was supposed to know.

"Figured it out when I saw her helping out a Muggle-born Ravenclaw last year in the library. Slytherin pure-bloods would bully that poor bloke and have a laugh. I am smart, you know, I just don't use my brain— "
