A couple of months into the new semester, she had a plan. Unfortunately, it involved someone named Thomas, a Ravenclaw, who would most likely say no due to the fact they wouldn't think it would be smart to go in between a relationship in fear of being beaten up. Still, Cassie had to try. If not, Cassie believed Fred would feel even more betrayed.

"At least, if it was sooner, he would think I did it for him," Cassie thought, trying to assure herself. Cassie hoped he would understand.

"Please, Thomas," Cassie pleaded.

"A thousand times no," he replied, stacking the papers at McGonagall's desk. "You think I want to get in the middle of your love life and, knowing your boyfriend, get my ass kicked? Hell no!"

"We won't even do anything." Cassie tried to convince him. "So none of it would be cheating."

"And Fred beating my ass?"

"I'll make sure he doesn't?" Cassie smiled weakly. "Please, I'll do anything."

"Anything?" Thomas smirked. Cassie nodded. "All right. Fine."

Cassie hugged him. "Thank you!"

Cassie was ready... for the most part. Fred was going to stop by that day. Cassie had a day off and was going to Hogsmeade with him. The plan was to have Thomas and her alone in the office, hugging. Fred would walk in and see them, and hopefully, he wouldn't punch or hex anyone.

Cassie and Thomas waited inside the office. When they could hear footsteps on the other side, they got in place.

"You know how you said you'd do anything for me?" Thomas asked. Cassie nodded.

Thomas bit his lip, thinking. Just as the door opened, Thomas thought "screw it" and he pressed his lips against Cassie's. For a long time, since they both became Head Boy and Girl, he began to think of her differently. All his friends teased him about it, saying he had no chance. The opportunity was present and he took it.

Cassie saw the door open and immediately pushed Thomas away. Thomas was blasted into the near shelf, knocking off the books and jars. Cassie looked at Fred who had his wand still pointed at Thomas. He looked angry and hurt. Cassie saw it in his eyes.

Cassie felt bad, understanding it wasn't the right way. She felt as though she made everything worse. She knew Fred would never understand after seeing that.

"I didn't think I'd have to worry about you, but I guess I did," Fred snarled. "How long have you been running around with him?"

"Fred— "

"I thought we had faith in each other... " He wasn't as mad now. Instead, he was hurt. "I thought we could trust each other. I trusted you!"

Cassie wanted to scream. She wanted to just run up to him and hug him and give him a kiss. But she couldn't. Either way, she had to break up with him. Still, he also needed an explanation. Never in Cassie's life did she want to be seen as a cheater.

"Please... I didn't know he'd— "

"Don't bother coming back over the summer," Fred said in a low voice.

He slammed the door shut. Cassie just stared at the door for a moment. When she heard a groan from the corner, she looked at Thomas who started to stand.
