Gotta catch 'em all (Ash x reader)

ch-2 Badges

I quietly entered the gym. "Hello?" I said, quietly. At the other end of the battle-field, I saw the gym leader, Brock. "Oh, um, hi. I'm Y/n Oak and I wish to challenge you to a gym battle." I said. "Ah, you're Gary Oak's sister, no? This is your first gym battle, right?" He then explained things I needed to know and I nodded along, being attentive. (He isn't insulting you like he did with Ash, he's just genuinely telling you here.) 

"Okay, let's begin." He said as you stepped at the other side of the battle court. "This is a gym battle between Y/n and Brock. You are allowed to use 2 pokemon. The person's whose both pokemon are defeated, loses. Begin." the announcer said. "Geodude, I choose you!" He yelled as a Geodude came out of his pokeball. I used pokedex to take it's info then sent Hydro. "Hydro! It's show time!" I cheered as my turtle pokemon came out of the pokeball. 

"Hydro, use water gun!" I commanded as he obeyed. The water gun hit Geodude as it took great damage and fainted. ^I'm at an advantage here.^ I thought and smirked. He returned Geodude and threw another pokeball. An Onyx came out as I learned about it too. "Onyx! Grab Squirtle!" He yelled as Onyx ran to catch Hydro. "Dodge and use water gun again!" I yelled. 

He dodged and used water gun, it was super effective, but it was still up. It tried to grab him again. "Use water gun on the ground to fly up and use skull bash!" I said as he did so. Onyx fainted. "Onyx has fainted! Y/n wins the match!" The announcer said as Hydro jumped into my arms in glee and I laughed. "You did great! But you aren't hurt are you? Let me check!" I said as I checked him for any injuries and sighed out of relief when I didn't see any. "Thank god." I sighed out.

In all this, I didn't notice Brock coming towards me. "Here, you earned this. Congratulations." He said as he presented the badge. "Thank you Brock." I said as I took it and put it neatly in my badge-case. "I really had fun battling you! I hope to see you again!" I said as I exited the gym, waving him goodbye. Next stop, Cerulean city. 

I had reached Cerulean city by the next day, but it was around nine pm so the gym isn't open. I saw a sign that told "Gary was here, Ash is a loser..." I chuckled and took out my own marker. Underneath the message I wrote, "Y/n was here too, and don't mind my brother." and then I entered the pokemon center. "Hello, what can I do for you?" Nurse Joy asked. "Ah, I was hoping that there was a room to stay in for the night? And please check these pokemon." I said as I handed my 3 pokeballs. "Of course. Room number 429 is unoccupied, here's the key." She said as she took the pokeballs in a tray and handed me a key. I waited till my pokemon were back and then went to the room, releasing them in the process.

"You guys did so great today! I'm so proud." I said as I hugged the three of them. I took out some poke-food from my bag and fed it to them. After that, we all fell asleep, happily hugging each other. The next day, we head to the gym. It was an aquarium of some sorts with the gym leaders as performers. After their performance, I head to where those leaders went. "Excuse me." I said as they turned around. "Oh my god! You're so pretty!" The one with the pink hair exclaimed as she ran to me and squeezed my cheeks.

"Yeah. I get that a lot. But I'm here for a gym battle." I said, gently removing the woman's hands. "Oh! You're here for a gym battle! Come on in!" The blonde one said. They all went to one end while I went to the other end. "Staryu time to shine!" The blue-haired one said as a Staryu came out. I took out pokedex and it told me what I needed. "Zip! I choose you!" I said as I threw my pokeball and Zip came out.

"Staryu, water gun." She said. "Dodge and thunder bolt!" I said as she swiftly dodged the attack and gave a powerful thunderbolt, defeating it. "Staryu return. Kingler, go!" She said as a crab like pokemon came out. After getting it's info too, I said, "Use thunderbolt again and finish this match!" It fainted and we won, that was easy.... "Thank you Zip. You may return." I said as I smiled and called back my Pikachu.

"Wow, the last 2 trainers had at least a bit of a problem fighting us... You're very powerful." The pink one complimented. "Thanks." I said while rubbing the back of my neck. "Here. The Cascade badge. Congratulations." Blonde woman said as she gave me the cascade badge. "Thank you." I said as I placed it into my case. 

~Time skip for 2 days~
I had just defeated Lt. Surge in Vermillion city, and had caught a female Bulbasaur who I named Nymph. I held the badge in my hand and then placed it in my case. Now for my next city, Celadon city. But first, let's relax in the forest.

While walking, I saw a cottage and a small lake where there were multiple pokemon. A girl was taking care of them. "Woah...." I murmured, but to my dismay, she heard it and looked at me. "Oh uh... Hello?" I stuttered out. "Hello, who are you?" She asked. "Oh! I'm Y/n Oak, it's nice to meet you um." "Melanie. I'm Melanie." she said. "Well, nice to meet you Melanie." I said.

A Bulbasaur stood in front of me, looking angry as I raised my hands in surrender. "I mean no harm. I was just wandering around the forest." I said as it blinked then let his guard down and approached me. I bent down and pet it's head softly while smiling. "That's a first..." I heard Melanie murmur and I hummed in confusion. "Well, you're the first trainer Bulbasaur has opened up to so far after he came here." she said. "Woah..." I muttered and now it was her turn to hum in confusion.

"Most the pokemon I've met this far liked me because of my kindness.... I didn't even think I was kind..." I told. "May I stay here for a while? This place looks sweet and I want to take care of pokemon again..." I said. "Sure! We could always use a helping hand." She exclaimed. I smiled and released my pokemon. "Bulba Bulbasaur!" "Squirtle Squirtle." "Pi Pikachu!" "Ee Eevee." my pokemon cheered, happy to be out of the pokeballs. Nymph instantly went to the Bulbasaur and.... they became all lovey dovey.... 

I stayed with Melanie for a day, taking care of all the pokemon with her. Right now, I was collecting berries in the forest along with Coco. "Melanie, I brought the berries--" I cut myself off when I saw some familiar beings. "Brock? Ash? And is that you Zap?" I asked. They all looked at me, who was wide-eyed. "Y/n?" The boys asked. "Well, I guess we meet again, huh." I said as I placed the berries onto the ground for the pokemon. They ate it happily.

We talked and caught up with each other. "So, how many badges do you have?" I asked. He proudly showed his two badges. "I've got 2, what about you?" He asked. I took out my case from my side bag, which contained my pokemon things like pokeballs, pokedex, potions and case. I showed it to him. "You have three badges?! So cool!" he exclaimed. "Yeah..." I trailed off.

After that, Brock helped the pokemon and Misty, as I learned her name, went to an Oddish and apologized. Oh yeah, I remember that Bulbasaur brought that Oddish back here, it was hurt. Suddenly, Bulbasaur attacked Misty. Ash was about to take out his pokeball to fight but me and Melanie stepped in between. "Guys stop! Bulbasaur was only trying to protect Oddish." I said. "Bulbasaur has volunteered to protect our whole village. He protects all the injured pokemon when an enemy tries to attack them! Bulbasaur is the greatest and the most loyal pokemon I've ever met." Melanie told.

"So that's why he tried to attack me. He thought I was gonna hurt Oddish!" Misty exclaimed. Bulbasaur still looked angry and tried to push them out. Suddenly, a huge UFO or something landed near the village with two people and a Meowth on top of it. They blabbered whatever and a vacuum like tube starting sucking in air. I quickly returned my pokemon inside their pokeballs and headed inside the cottage, along with everyone. Ash managed to defeat 'Team Rocket'.

After everything settled down, we all head outside. I wasn't paying attention to them and was strumming the guitar that was there in the cottage. I had written a song along with Gary about pokemon. By the time I payed attention, Bulbasaur had been caught by Ash, but I didn't pay much attention to it either. I started singing.

I was singing my solo version and by the time I ended, everyone was looking. They all looked amazed, and relaxed? After sometime, Ash asked, "Y/n, do you want to travel with us?" "Hmm, maybe later. I wanna travel alone for some time. The next time we meet, I'll travel with you. Well, smell ya later." I said as I started to walk away, to Celadon city.
