(I'm skipping to the part of the Laramie clan's race.)
We all stood at the starting line. Ash was riding Ponyta, Misty on Starmie, Brock on Onyx, Zap on Squirtle, and me on my Arcanine Fire! Well, I managed to catch him, more like he insisted on coming with to protect me. I had contacted grandpa to exchange a pokemon for this race, so I exchanged TwoSpoons for Fire. "Go!" The announcer yelled as we all took off.
I was competing with that Dodrio dude for the first position right now. "Dario riding Dodrio and Y/n riding Arcanine have pulled away from the pack. If they keep up this blistering pace, they'll be unstoppable." the commentator said. A Taurus and Nidorina were out of the race already.
"The next obstacle is a 45 degree uphill climb! A test of endurance for the pokemon and their trainers and Dario and Y/n still hold the lead!" was announced as me and that douche fought for the first place still. As we started to descend, a trainer on a Voltorb came rolling down the hill, but fell into a hole, giving us the lead again.
"Now, one of the most difficult sections of the course. The pokemon have to jump from one to the next to cross the river!" announced the person. "We can do this Fire. Just jump from one stone to the next, like we did when we had to cross the river in the forest." I whispered in his ear. We jumped, one rock from another, landing perfectly on each one. We were first at the moment.
"Next, to boost their energy, each pokemon can resume the race only after eating an entire bowl of food. The pokemon decides which bowl to eat." was told as Fire jumped down, and scarfed down an entire bowl full of pokefood. We jumped down and ran. "Y/n is now taking the lead!" the person yelled.
Suddenly, something hit my fire-type pokemon, making him fall down and cover his face. I got off him and checked his wound. It wasn't deep, so I gently kissed it, healing it slightly. (I decided to give reader-chan some powers! Even if they don't really exist in the pokemon universe. You have the ability to heal external wounds, but they can't be too serious.) I saw black smoke surround the previous obstacle, making me worried for my friends.
By now, Dario was catching up to me. Fire got up and I jumped up, onto his back as we started running again. When I looked back again, I saw Ash and Ponyta also catching up. Now, we three were neck-to-neck. Suddenly, Dodrio hit Fire and Ponyta in the faces, making me and Ash fall behind.
"Hey! That was a cheap trick Dario!!" Both of us yelled. "I did what I had to!" Dario yelled back as he smirked at me. ^Why the fuck is he smirking at me like that? It's creepy.^ I thought as I looked at him with an unimpressed look. "Let's go!" Both me and Ash said to our pokemon.
~2nd person pov~ Ponyta's fire increased and Arcanine was engulfed in fire too. You smirked, looking at your wolf-like pokemon. Ponyta started evolving as your Arcanine also started glowing white. After the white light stopped, everyone saw a Rapidash and a pokemon that looked like an Arcanine but a more evolved version.

"Let's go Wildfire!" you cheered at your Mega-evolved pokemon (Well, it's not exactly a mega evolution, it's more like what happens with Ash and Greninja if you know what I mean. AshGreninja.) "This is incredible! Ponyta has evolved into Rapidash, the fastest runner in the world! And looks like Arcanine evolved into a mysterious pokemon! And the both of them have caught up, they're neck and neck heading for the finish line!" the commentator exclaimed into the mic.
You and Wildfire (it's like Fire's name for when he mega-evolves) howled as you both and Ash crossed the line a second before Dario could. "What an event! Rapidash and Arcanine make an amazing comeback to win this pokemon challenge!" the person cheered. You got off as your Arcanine as he turned back to his usual form and you put both of your foreheads together, grinning at each other. "We won." You murmured and pulled away from him. In all this, Dario was yeeted into the sky.
"Congratulations Ponyta-- I mean Rapidash and Arcanine! You are this year's pokemon challenge's champions! Let's give a big hand to Rapidash's trainer Lara Laramie, for the winning-rider Ash, and for the trainer and rider of Arcanine, Y/n Oak!" the announcer announced as Fire started licking your cheek. You smiled at him. "You did a good job, I'm proud of you." You cooed and softly pet your huge pokemon, as he purred in delight, happy that you praised him. You returned him to his pokeball.
Rapidash also ran and started licking your face, making you laugh because you were ticklish. In these 2 days, you had befriended the fire horse pokemon. "S-stop, that tickles!" You exclaimed in between laughter. It stopped and neighed at you. You smiled and pet it gently, it's flames not burning you.
~Y/n's pov~ "If you're looking to capture pokemon, the safari zone just ahead should be perfect." Lara said. "The Safari zone? That's the place for me!" Ash exclaimed. "You both did a great job. I'm sure you will be pokemon masters." She complimented. "Thanks Lara." "Much obliged." Ash and I said, alternating sentences. I pet Rapidash for the last time and walked away with my friends.
